Petition to improve Garden Lam by -the construction of local sewer, bearing twenty signatures , and dated February 23, 1953, was examined and referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. Excavation Bond for the sum off-$10,000 binding Henry Kubiak, was next examined by the Board and approved. Contract Bond furnished"by"Edward J. White, Inc. in the sum of $9,472.00, was examined and ordered filed with all papers pertaining to the construction of Fire Station No. 14- Notification of change of price schedule, effective -at parking- lots operated by South Bend Parking, Inc.- bearing date of March 10, 1953, was next examined and ordered filed. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon. Atte st : Clerk SPECIAL MEETING March 18, 1953 A Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held in accordance with legal notice of hearings on Wednesday evening, March 18, 1953, at 7:30 P.M., relative to the following Improvement -Resolutions: Resolution No. 2745 - Improvement of north Huey Street from 30 feet south of the south line of Hamilton Street to 264 feet south of the south line of Hamilton Street by constructing a local.sewer. Resolution No. 2746 - Improvement of Robinson Street from Bowman Street to Donald Street by constructing asphalt pavement. Resolution No. 2747 - Improvement of Napoleon Boulevard from Notre Dame Avenue through the intersection of St. Louis Boulevard by -constructing Class "C" Pavement. Resolution N3. 2748 - Improvement of alley between Adams Street and College Street one block north of Vassar by constructing Class "C" type 1 Pavement. Members present were R. S. Andrysiak and Irving A. Hurwich. Chairman of the Board, R. S. Andrysiak opened the meeting by addressing the assembled interested property owners. Mr. Andrysiak first explained the fundamentals and procedure pertaining to the operation of the Barrett Law, point by point, from the filing of petition for an improvement, .to the final._and acceptance completion of the construction involved. After explaining various other aspects brought up in the form of questions from the floor, Mr. Andrysiak spread the blue -prints covering each of the projects on separate desks and invited the persons present to assemble in groups and examine the plans for th particular improvement in which they were concerned. Mr. Andrysiak, assisted by Messrs. Wilbur H. and Richard Gartner, of the engineering firm of W. H. Gartner & Associated, then offered further explanation and answered inquiries concerning the proposed con- struction.
