<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, July 7, 1952 at
<br />10:00 A. Iwi. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting and also
<br />special meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the total
<br />amount of $26,736.59 were approved and ordered paid:

<br />The Board examined and approved Estimate of cost and four sheets of drawings per-
<br />taining to the re -surfacing of Miami Street, Contract No.9, submitted by Wilbur H.
<br />Gartner & Associates, Civil Engineers, and also approved the required advertising
<br />inviting sealed bids for this resurfacing on Miami Street from the north line of Indiana
<br />Avenue to the south line of Ewing Avenue.
<br />ENGINEER t S CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
<br />. Certification of Completion was furnished by Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates, Civil
<br />Engineers, accompanied by Contractorts Completion Affidavit, together with Final Payment
<br />Estimate, of the contract between the City of South Bend, Indiana, and the Rieth-Riley
<br />Construction Company, Contractor, for the construction of the Bituminous Concrete (AH)
<br />Re -surface Pavement improvement on Angela Boulevard from the west line of Michigan Street
<br />to the northeasterly line of Portage Avenue, under Improvement Contract No. 6 has been
<br />completed in accordance with the plans and specifications for this project, and was
<br />examined by the Board and ordered filed.
<br />i PLANS REPORTED
<br />. Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates, Civil Engineers, reported to the Board, Profiles,
<br />Drawing, Plans, General Details, Specifications, Estimates and Preliminary Improvement
<br />Resolution for the improvement of THIRTY-FIRST STREET FROis-I the south line of Pleasant
<br />Street to the north line of North Side Boulevard by constructing a Class "C" Pavement
<br />AND
<br />WASHINGTON AVENUE from the east line of Ironwood Drive to the east curb line of
<br />Tuxedo Drive by constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND.
<br />CHALFANT STREET from the east line of Walsh Street to the west line of Jacob Street
<br />1by constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />- HUYBOLDT STREET from the west line of Fremont Street to the alley west of Meade
<br />Street by constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />WILSON AVENUE from the east line of Ironwood Drive to the west line of Tuxedo Drive
<br />by constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />ALLEY BETWEEN i'dICHIGGAN STREET AND LAIN STREET from the north line of Ewing Avenue
<br />to the south line of Donald Street by constructing a Class "C" Pavement.
<br />The Board approved the reports and passed Improvement Resolutions, authorizing
<br />these public improvements, :and the 31st day of July, 1952 at the hour of 6:30 P.M.
<br />CST is hereby fixed as the time, and the office of the Board in said city as the place
<br />when and where all persons whose property may be affected by such proposed improvement,
<br />• may be heard as to the necessity for the same, and all petitions and remonstrances
<br />received and the Board will, on said day, decide whether the benefits accruing to
<br />abutting and adjacent property, and to the City of South Bend, Indiana, will be equal
<br />to or exceed the estimated cost of said improvement. The Clerk of the Board is hereby
<br />ordered to give notice by two weekly publications, of the time and place of hearing of
<br />these resolutions, Nos. 2721, 2722, 2723, 272L;, 2725 and 2726, adopted July 7, 1952
<br />land to be published on July llth and July 18, 1952.
<br />A petition dated July 1, 1952 for vacating the alley beginning at the south side of
<br />Western Avenue, running south to the first alley, running east and west between South
<br />Brookfield and South Jackson Streets, was examined by the Board and referred to the
<br />City Plan Commission for their examination and recommendation.
