<br />Safety in the City Hall of this City, as the place, when and where the Board of Public
<br />Works and Safety will open and consider bids for the above named improvements, provided
<br />all bids for. the construction. of said work shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of
<br />this Board before 10:00 otclock AM-CST'df, said day. Each bidder for said work shall
<br />enclose with his bid a certified check, payable to the Treasurer of this City in the
<br />sum• of two and one-half percent of the amount of his bid, or a bid bond for two and one
<br />half per cent of the amount of his bid, to insure the execution of this contract, if
<br />said work is awarded to him.
<br />The Clerk of this'Board is hereby ordered, to give notice by two weekly publicat ons
<br />of. the time and place, when and where bids will be received, opened and considered for
<br />the construction of said work. Said Clerk shall state in said notices, that each bidder
<br />shall enclose with his bid a certified check or bid bond for above named amount, to
<br />insure the execution of this contract.

<br />STREET DEPARTMENT: H. M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, being present, brought the
<br />attention of the Board the fact that the weed -cutting season has arrived. He was
<br />informed by the Board that the Tribune has publicized the usual warning to property
<br />owners in this connection and that the Street Department should proceed to remove
<br />noxious weeds, particularly on corner lots, where view is obscured and traffic hazard
<br />is being caused by such growth.
<br />PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: Casimir Dzikowski, Superintendent of the Parking Meter
<br />Department, was present. A study of various makes of parking meters has been completed
<br />at the request of the Mayor. The committee making the study was comprised of City
<br />Engineer, Ray S. Andrysiak, and two other highly competent mechanical engineers, who
<br />conducted tests of six makes of parking meters Independent investigation was also
<br />i made by the Parking Pieter Department and members of the Common Council. It appearing
<br />that the Rhoades "Mark -Time" meter was the most desirable, insofar as the tests were
<br />concerned, and from the standpoint of simplicity of mechanism and economy of maintenance
<br />and repair, the Board, upon recommendation of the Testing Committee, authorized the
<br />Parking Meter Department to obtain one -hundred of the Rhoades meters for a 90-day trial.

<br />i The Superintendent brought to the attention of the Board the Departmentts need for
<br />a three -wheel motorcycle, as used by the Police Department, and the Board authorized the
<br />Parking Meter Department to purchase one of the three -wheel motorcycles from Wesner's,
<br />526 Western Avenue, at the price of $250.00.
<br />This being the time set for the opening of bids, chairman of the Board, Ray S.
<br />Andrysiak, made the announcement and proceeded with the opening of the bids as follows:
