Wheeler of Wheeler & Hamilton Welding & Machine Shop, Ardmore <br />'i Y g p, , appeared ; <br />before the Board, inquiring as to the possibility of proceeding with the iron fence <br />repair work at the City Cemetery. The Board informed Mr. Wheeler -that as yet the <br />transfer of the required funds had not been completed and no further work should be !' <br />performed until these funds are available. (i <br />Vacation Resolution No.2696 <br />Attorneys McGill and Reeder appeared before the Board relative to Vacation Resolution; <br />N6.2696.-- Attorney McGill cited two cases to bear out his contention that insufficient <br />time elapsed before final advertising and the date set for the hearing. Mr. McGill i <br />also informed the Board of his having had notice of the filing of a brief, and asked <br />for an opportunity to file a reply brief. The Board agreed to the continuing of the i.. <br />hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 2696 for another two weeks period, for the regular <br />meeting of the Board June 2, 1952. f� <br />Mrs. Bertha B. Baker, 1010 South 20th Street, next appeared before the Board with <br />a protest against water standing along the curb on the new pavement constructed under <br />Improvement Resolution No.2673- 1951. �I <br />H. Daniel Lang and Luther Dixon, Jr. appeared before the Board with a petition for { <br />the improvement of Chalfant Street from Walsh to Jacob Street. The petition was !j <br />examined by the Board and the Clerk was instructed to refer this petition to the <br />City Engineer's office. <br />The request of the New York Central Railroad for the closing of Olive Street for <br />the purpose of reconstructing the crossing was then taken up by the Board. The Board <br />approved the closing of the Olive Street crossing and traffic being diverted temporarily; <br />to the Meade Street crossing, inasmuch as the Railroad Company has agreed to maintain <br />a watchman at the Meade Street crossing, in addition to the automatic flashers on I <br />Mondays through Fridays, from 6:00 A. M. to 10:00 P. M. throughout the period of i <br />construction. On this basis permission for the closing of the Olive Street New York <br />Cnn.tral Crossing is granted by the Board. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: After examining the recommendations and installations of stop -signs ' <br />• <br />as reported by Traffic Engineer, Ernest H. Miller, the Board unanimously adopted these l <br />recommendations and declared the intersections as Stop Streets as follows: <br />WAYNE STREET - STOP at LINCOLN WAY EAST <br />'i <br />FRANKLIN STREET AT GARST STREET (4-way Stop) <br />VASSAR AVENUE - STOP at OtBRIEN STREET <br />ALTGELD STREET - STOP at YORK STREET <br />I FLORENCE STREET - STOP at COLLEGE STREET <br />SIBLEY STREET - STOP at COLLEGE STREET <br />36TH STREET - STOP at MISHAWAKA AVENUE. <br />I STREET DEPARTMENT: H. M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, was present and took up <br />with the Board minor matters concerning his department. <br />
