for their.approval. <br />A letter concerning the dust enndition at Inglewood Place, from Mrs. Gene C. Silver <br />was read and the Clerk directed to reply, informing firs. Silvers that the matter is <br />receiving the Boardts consideration. <br />A letter was examined concerning the alley grade of the first east and west alley <br />north of Cedar Street and the establishing of a grade on the east and west alley between <br />Madison and Cedar Streets that will eliminate'a large water hole. The entire matter <br />was referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />The Traffic Engineerts report on the petition for temporary closing of alley south <br />of Western Avenue, between Pulaski and Koscuisko Streets, was examined by the Board and <br />petition and report ordered filed. <br />Petitions for improvements desired on South Bendix Drive and two blocks of West <br />Jefferson Street failed to indicate location and type of improvement to be made. Both <br />were referred to the City Engineer for his investigation and report. <br />A Petition for the vacating of the alley between Wayne and Sunnymede Avenue, <br />beginning west of Twyckenham Drive and running West a distance of 155 feet, more or less, <br />to that part of the alley previously vacated, was next examined by the Board and referred <br />to the City Plan Commission. <br />Contractors Bonds of $1,000 each were examined and approved by the Board for the <br />following contractors: <br />Napoleon Callewaert <br />Interstate Maintenance & Engineering Co., Springfield, Ohio <br />D. C. James <br />Lonnie E. Mishler <br />Joseph Price <br />Mike Vellner <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: <br />Bids for the of Angela Boulevard and Indiana Avenue opened at a <br />previous regular meeting, having been examined and tabulated, bid acceptance and the <br />awarding of contracts were as follows: <br />For the construction of a Bituminous Concrete (AH) Re -surface pavement <br />on ANGELA BOULEVARD from X11ichigan Street to Lafayette Boulevard <br />and from Woodward Avenue to Portage Avenue, the bid of Rieth-Riley <br />Construction Company for a total of $14,934.30 was found to be the lowest <br />and best bid, and was thereupon awarded the contract. <br />For the construction of a Bituminous Concrete (AH) Re -surface pavement <br />on INDIANA AVENUE from Miami Street to Marietta Street, the bid of <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Company for a total of $22,455.50 was found to be <br />the lowest and best bid, and was thereupon awarded the contract. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned <br />at 12:00 Noon. <br />ATTEST: G�d ,v e"'7e'24 <br />Clerk <br />Supplement to <br />May 5, 1952 Meeting <br />A complaint was made to the Board in regard to excessive use of the street for <br />parking purposes by the trucks and other automotive equipment of Claeys Candy Company. <br />The Board called upon Traffic Engineer,Ernest H. Miller, to make an investigation and. <br />report on a possible solution of the problem. <br />Three citizens, interested in a petition complaining of the excessive use of <br />residential streets, specificially Swygart Street, by trucking firms with terminals in <br />that vicinity, were present.
