STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />H. M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, being present, a letter to the Mayor from <br />Edward V. Minc�:eski, President of the Polish -American Business Ments Association was <br />read and a petition signed by property -owners conducting business and/or living on <br />Western Avenue, between Koscuisko and. Olive/ Streets, was examined and given con- <br />sideration. Mr. Tomlinson suggested the use of a City Street Sweeper to assist the <br />contractor in complying with the contract clause requiring the usable portion of the <br />street to be kept clean during the street -widening operations. Mr. Andrysiak stated <br />that the use of the equipment, and the -..Street Department labor required to operate, <br />would be supplied at the regular prescribed charge for such service. <br />Mr. Tomlinsonts request for Motorola equipment to be installed on Emergency <br />Truck #33 was approved by the Board and the Clerk was directed to make the purchase <br />immediately of the exact unit required. <br />RESOLUTIONS ACCEPTING FINAL ESTIMATES <br />NOS. 2643 , 2672, 2673, 2704 - 1952 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />April 28, 1952 <br />Be It Resolved, By the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, that the Final Estimate, and Primary Assessment Roll submitted to the Board <br />by the City Civil Engineer or his duly authorized representative on this 28th day <br />of April 1952 on the improvement known as the Vine Street Pavement Improvement as <br />described in Improvement Resolution No. 2672-1951 and Twentieth Street Pavement as <br />described in Improvement Resolution No. 2673-1951 and Randolph Street Pavement as <br />described in Improvement Resolution No. 2643-1951 and North Elmer Street Local Sewer <br />as described in Improvement Resolution No.2704-1952. Improvement Resolution Nos.2672, <br />2673 and 2643 passed by the Board of Public Works and Safety on June 25, 1951, and <br />confirmed by said Board on July 23, 1951, and Improvement Resolution No.2704, passed <br />by the Board of Public Works & Safety on February 25, 1952 and confirmed by said <br />Board on March 17, 1952, be and the same is hereby adopted, and the Clerk of this <br />Board is hereby requested to give notice of the hearing of Special Benefits on said <br />Improvements, as required by Section N.111 or 120 of an Act entitled, "An Act Con- <br />cerning Municipal Corporations" approved March 6,•1905. <br />R. Crothers3 Board of Public Works & 'Safety <br />Clerk of the Board <br />1MPRdVEh9,NT RESOLUTIONS CONFIRMED <br />PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ADOPTED <br />Confirmation of Resolution No.2702 for the Improvement of South Illinois Street <br />from the north line of Western Avenue to the south line of Washington Street by <br />constructing a Class "C" Pavement, AND <br />For the improvement of Alleys between Fox Street, Donald Street, Dale Avenue and <br />{ Miami Street under Improvement Resolution No.2703 for a Class ttC" Pavement AND <br />For the improvement of Klinger Street under Improvement Resolution No.2709 <br />from the -east line of Michigan Street to the west line of Charles Street for a <br />Class "C" Pavement, AND <br />For the improvement of Kenmore Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2715 <br />from the south line of Western Avenue to the north line of Ford Street for a <br />Class "C" Pavement, AND <br />For the improvement of Alley between Brookfield Street and Johnson Street under <br />Improvement Resolution No. 2712 from the north line of Vassar Avenue to the south line <br />of Humboldt Street for a Class 110 Pavement was approved by the Board. <br />Plans and specifications for the above improvements were adopted and ordered <br />placed on file. May 19, 1952, at the hour of 10:00 A. M. CST is hereby fixed as the <br />time, and the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall of this <br />City, as the place, when and where the Board of Public Works and Safety will open and <br />consider bids for the above named improvements, provided all bids for the construction <br />of said work shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of this Board before 10:00 <br />otelock A.M. CST of said day. Each bidder for said work shall enclose with his bid <br />a -certified check, payable to the Treasurer of this City in the sum of two and one-half <br />(2�) per cent of the amount of his bid, or a bid bond for two and one-half (21) per <br />cent of the amount of his bid, to insure the execution of this contract, if said work <br />is awarded to him. <br />The -Clerk of this Board is hereby ordered, to give notice by two weekly publicatio: <br />of the time and place, when and where bids will be received, opened and considered for <br />the construction of said work.
