415 <br />• <br />0 <br />0 <br />0 <br />There being no other business to come before this meeting of the Board, the <br />meeting adjourned at 3:30 P.M. <br />ATTEST: ;41 <br />Clerk <br />April 7, 1952 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, April 7, 1952 <br />at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting (regular) <br />and also Special Meeting were read and approved. Salary claims in the total amount <br />of $25,207.28 were approved. R. F. Porte of the Ardmore Brethren Church appeared before the Board and <br />obtained the Board's permission for a sextette of musicians from Moody Bible Institute <br />to sing in the business district one evening of their choice the week of April 14, 1952. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />Street Commissioner, Harry M. Tomlinson was present and asked the Board's per- <br />mission to close his department, with the exception of a skeleton emergency crews for <br />the purpose of a general vacation from July 3rd to July 14th. It was pointed out <br />this is the period adopted for this purpose by major local industrial plants. Mr. <br />Tomlinsonts recommendation and request was approved by the Board and the Board authorize <br />a general -vacation for the Street Department, commencing with the evening of July 3rd <br />and extending to July 14, 1952. <br />Mr. Irving A. Hurwich presented to the Board an Ordinance authorizing the sale of <br />the dwelling units, owned by the City, located on the Plaza Site of the South Bend <br />Veter.anst Housing Project, also the appointment in the St. Joseph County Circuit Court <br />of appraisers to appraise this property, signed by Judge Dan Pyle under date of <br />March 24,.1952. Mr. Hurwich then presented the Appraisement, showing the appraisals <br />were fixed at $850.00 each for 3-bedroom units, and $650.00 each for 2-bedroom units. <br />The Board then agreed upon the sale of the twenty-three (23) units involved to be made <br />by public auction for not less than the appraised value, at a date to be decided upon <br />and announced in another meeting. <br />Mr. Hurwich then took up the matter of the trial re-routing of certain bus routes, <br />• which was given discussion in the previous regular meeting of the Board. The Board <br />was in agreement and granted the request for the re-routing in question. <br />DEDICATION: <br />The next matter taken up by the Board was the dedication of a portion of FORD <br />i Street extended, as certified by Garden Homes, Inc. - <br />Beginnirg at a point 850t South of the Northwest corner <br />of the Southwest One-fourth (1/4) of Section Nine (9) <br />Township 37 North, Range 2 East) corresponding to the <br />• intersection of the West line of said Section and Noihth <br />line of Ford Street; thence in a Westerly direction <br />along the North line of Ford Street, a distance of 1277.1 <br />feet to North boundary line of Belleville Unit t'D" Addition <br />
