/ 1 4 <br />Petition of KERMIT D. FISH and thirty-six others for the PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENT on SOUTH <br />ILLINOIS STREET from the north line of WESTERN AVENUE to the south line of WASHINGTON <br />S TREE T AND <br />Petition of WHITCOMB & KELLER INC. for the PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENT on KLINGER STREET <br />from the east line of MICHIGAN STREET to the west lineofCHARLES STREET and <br />Petition of GEORGE DEVIEW and sixteen others for the PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENT on ALLEY <br />BETWEEN BROOKFIELD STREET AND JOHNSON STREET from the north line of VASSAR AVENUE to <br />the south line of HUMBOLDT STREET.- <br />. P <br />,The above five petitions were examined by the Board and referred to the City <br />Engineer for recommendation. The City,Engineer being present., made the recommendation <br />that the petition in each instance, be granted. The Board then directed that the <br />firm of Wilbur,H. Gartner & Associates prepare general details, drawings, specificationst <br />and,preliminary improvement resplution for the five,pavement improvements to be con- <br />structed and the firm was so notified March 24, 1952. <br />GHTS & MEASURES DEPARTMENT: <br />A letter from the Director of the Weights and Measures, Indiana State Board of <br />Health, in regard to, the annual conference of Inspectors of Weights and Measures to <br />be held April 17, 18, 19th, was read and the Board approved and authorized the <br />attendance at this conference of Charles J. Burns, Inspector of Weights and Measures <br />for the City of South Bend. <br />VACATION RESOLUTIONS NOS. 26972 26982 2699, 2700, 2701,2710,2711. <br />-This being the date set, hearings were had on the resolutions heretofore adopted by <br />;he Board of Publie Works for the vacation of streets and alleys described under Vacation <br />Resolutions Nos. 2697, 2698, 2699, 2700, 2701, 2710,.and 2711. The Clerk of the Board <br />having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appeared and <br />no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded, and <br />unanimously carried that the said resolutions be finally adopted and the said streets <br />and alleys be vacated. <br />The assessment rolls having been filed by the City Engineer showing the awards of <br />damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of vacation of streets and alleys <br />under Vacation Resolutions Nos. 2696, 2697, 2698, 2699, 2700 and 2701. <br />In the above named assessment rolls, the Board hereby orders that it will meet <br />in the City Hall at 11:00 A. M. on the 21st day of April, 1952 for the purpose of <br />hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said <br />vacations, and the Board furthers orders that notice of said hearings, together with <br />the amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners <br />by publishing same on the 28th day of March, on the 4th day of April, and on the llth <br />day of April, 1952 in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News. <br />The action taken by the Board described in the foregoing three paragraphs was <br />due to an error in the original publication of hearing dates. <br />The Contractor's Bond of Donald W. Zimmerman, in the amount of $1,000.00 was <br />examined and approved by the Board. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting adjourned <br />at 12:45 P.M. <br />ATTEST: Ward H.
