<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works,was held Monday, March 10, 1952
<br />at 10:00 A. M. 11embers present were R. S. Andrysiak and G. P. Ziegler. Minutes of
<br />the previous meeting were read and approved. Salary Claims of the Street Department
<br />in the amount of $11,659.84 were approved and ordered paid. Claims of the following
<br />suppliers, in the total amount of $21,158.08 were approved and ordered paid.

<br />City Engineer, R. S. Andrysiak then presented the Plat of Block "B" in Belleville .
<br />Gardens Addition to the City of South Bend of the Colpaert Realty Corporation, bearing
<br />the approval stamp of the City Plan Commission. The plat was examined, approved by
<br />the board, and Block "B", as subdivided, was ordered to be recorded., Book 18, Page "B".
<br />The City Engineer was authorized by the Board to give Barney Massa, Inc. and
<br />Niles Excavating Company an extension of time on their respective contracts.
<br />S TREE T DEPARTMENT:
<br />Harry M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner was present and brought before the Board
<br />the Equipment Rental Agreement to be entered into between the City of South Bend and

<br />the State of Indiana, in the matter of the use of the Street Department Flusher for
<br />�.
<br />flushing state -maintained streets in South Bend. The Board approved the agreement
<br />and directed the Clerk to forward same to the State Highway Commission's District
<br />a
<br />Engineer's office for the required approval of the Commission.
<br />Mr. Tomlinson then brought to the attention of the Board the extensive patching
<br />of the streets now underway, pointing out that in some instances costly work of this
<br />type could be avoided, if the street involved is scheduled for resurfacing, by pro-

<br />ceeding immediately with the resurfacing work. Pv?r. Tomlinson mentioned the concrete
<br />section of East Jefferson Boulevard as being in most urgent need of attention. Wayne
<br />Street from St. Joseph Street to Taylor, in regard to which consultation has been
<br />held with the IVI'ayor, was agreed upon as the first resurfacing project, on which work
<br />'a
<br />is to be commenced immediately.
<br />Mr. Tomlinson next laid before the Board a petition for approximately 75 feet
<br />of sidewalk to be constructed, beginning at the alley in the 1300 block West Washington'.
<br />Avenue, westward to Chestnut Street. The Board approved the petition and directed the

<br />Clerk to notify the property owners to provide the required sidewalk.
<br />Mr, Tomlinson next tools up with the Board his needs for new motorized equipment.
<br />The Board approved the Street Commissioner's recommendations and the Clerk was
<br />directed to proceed with the required advertising.
<br />The City Engineer then presented a Quit Claim Deed, given by Whitcomb & Keller,Inc.,
<br />deeding the following described real estate to the City for use as a public alley, to wit:
