380 <br />January 14, 1952 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, January 14, <br />1952 at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of previous.meeting <br />were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the amount of <br />$58.76 were approved and ordered paid: <br />Office Supply & Equipment Co.----- $1.15 Indiana F3e11 Telephone Co.--$11.59 <br />G. E. Meyer & Son, Inc.---------- .9.0 Sidwell Studio- ----------- .20.00 <br />The Office Engineers, Inc.------ 15.71 Indiana Bell Telephone Co.-- 9.41 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Co. ------ $10.04 Indiana & Michigan Elect.---$93.60 <br />So. Bend Sand & Gravel Corp.----- .20.96 Ind. Lumber & Mfg. Co. ---- 114.65 <br />Mrs. Bernice E. Rerick, President of the Mothers of Marines Organization and <br />another lady representative presented request for permission to conduct their <br />ahhual Rose Day on June 21, 1952. Permission was granted and the clerk directed <br />! to furnish a letter of confirmation. <br />I <br />0. Frank Helvie applied for permission to conduct annual Crippled Children's <br />Lily Drive on the principal streets in April. Permission was granted for the <br />- <br />date of Saturday, April 5, 1952. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT <br />The City Engineer reports there is no activity on the North Side Boulevard <br />interceptor sewer project by the Fattore Company of Center Line, Michigan <br />cpntractors. The Board decided to direct a letter to the Fattore Company with <br />a copy to Ralph Moorehouse, Resident Bngineer for the interceptor sewer projects, <br />demanding a complete report to the Board concerning their plans for the early <br />completion of their contract and requesting a definite work schedule. <br />Attorney L. W. Hammond appeared before the Board relative to the vacation <br />of a portion of - <br />THE ALLEY EAST OF ST PETER STREET FROM <br />THE SOUTH LINE OF THE FIRST ALLEY SOUTH <br />OF WAYNE STREET TO THE NORTH LINE OF THE <br />GRAND TRUNK RAILROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY. <br />The Clerk was ordered by the Board to assign a Resolution number and to <br />publish notice for a public hearing. <br />II STREET DEPARTMENT . <br />!� Harry Tomlinson,Street Commissioner, was present and matters pertaining to <br />his department were discussed. <br />I <br />i <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer was present and called the attention <br />of the Board to city employee, Dwight Neland, of his department, who suffered <br />a back injury in 1948 in line of duty and for which the City has provided <br />medical treatment. Mr. Miller asked authority to continue these treatments with <br />Dr. R. H. Denham. Jr. Mr. Miller was so authorized by the Board. <br />I' Attorney Leo P. Rieder appeared before the Board in the matter of vacation <br />Resolution #2696 <br />VACATION RESOLUTION #2696 <br />C 5� <br />R. S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the <br />award of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation <br />of - <br />PORTION OF COLUMBIA STREET DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: <br />Commencing at a point on the west line of Columbia Street <br />at a point 134 ft. northesterly at right angles from the <br />northeasterly line of lLincoln Way East; thence southeasterly <br />across Columbia Street on a line projected southeasterly"to <br />the east line of said Columbia Street and which line before <br />projection southeasterly is 134 f t. northeasterly at right <br />angles and parallel to the northeasterly line of Lincolnway <br />i; <br />• <br />7 <br />0 <br />0 <br />• <br />0 <br />
