VACATION RESOLUTION NO.2694, 1951
<br />R. S. Andrysiak,`City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the awards of
<br />damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the alley run.
<br />ning north and south from Western Avenue to Monroe Street between Columbia Street and
<br />Carroll Street excepting the north 99 fett of said alley under Vacation Resolution No.
<br />26 94.
<br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in the
<br />City Hall at 11:00 a.m., on the 31st day of December for the purpose of hearing and rece
<br />ing remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation, and the
<br />Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of damages
<br />awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing same on
<br />the 14th day of December and on the 21st day of December, 19519 in the South Bend Daily
<br />Tribune and the Weekly Record.
<br />John Robert Sanders appeared before the Board, represented by R. E. Zimmerman, Attor
<br />ney,-and filed a Notice of Claim and Intention to Prosecute the City of :South Bend.. The
<br />Board ordered the notice to held for further consideration.
<br />' TAXI CABS: A petition was received from United Cab Company, Inc., and Yellow Cab Compan
<br />Inc., asking for a two -cab stand on Jefferson Boulevard, east of Michigan Street on the
<br />south side of the street at the first two -parking spaces east of Michigan Street. The
<br />Board, after discussion with the traffic engineer, granted permission for the establish-
<br />] ment of this taxi cab stand.
<br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Melton 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per-
<br />taining to his department were discussed.
<br />Mr. Brannan informed the Board that Henry.Zoss was injured while on duty and -was in
<br />need of medical attention. The Board directed that Mr. Zoss have such medical attention
<br />as was considered necessary.
<br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining to
<br />his department were discussed.

<br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
<br />at 11:'5 a.m.
