<br />1 After due investigation of all bids and being duly advised on the premises, the
<br />Board of Public Works and Safety decides that the bid of the Reed Construction Companjh
<br />for the construction of the improvement known as NORTH SHORE DRIVE RE -SURFACE improve-
<br />ment according to Improvement Resolution No. 2682, 1951,_is the -lowest and best bid and
<br />that the contract to do said work be awarded to the Reed Construction Company. Said bi
<br />• being as follows:
<br />Item 1 Resetting manhole covers @ 25.00 per each

<br />Therefor Fie It Resolved, By the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
<br />• South.Bend, Indiana, that the bid of the Reed Construction Company for the construction
<br />of the described Improvement
<br />-improvement in Resolution No. 2682m 1951s passed by this
<br />Board on August 20. 1951, and confirmed by this Board on September 17, 1951, be and the
<br />same is hereby adopted and that the City of South Bend, Indiana, thru its Mayor and Boar
<br />of Public Works and Safety enter into a written c ntract,with said Reed Construction Com-
<br />pany for the faithful executor of such work, acco ding to said bid, the detailed plans
<br />and specifications and the terms of said Resolutlo;i,, provided that, before entering upon
<br />the perf©rmancerof said*contract, said Reed Construction Company shall give bond, in thel
<br />amount equal to one hundred (100) per cent of the contract price for such work, with a
<br />Surety Company legally authorized to transact business in the State of Indiana, as Suret
<br />to the approval of this Board, to secure the performance of such contract,,and shall giw
<br />,
<br />a Maintenance Bond in the amount equal to fifty (.50) per cent of the contract price for
<br />such work, with a Surety Company legally authorized-b transact business in the State of
<br />Indiana, as Surety, to the Board
<br />approval of this to warrant and guarantee the work, mat

<br />I pavement for a period of -,three (3) years, and to hIld the Pity of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, harmless from payment of any debt or damage by reason Of any act of
<br />j such Contrsetor, and to secure the payment of all claims for labor and material used in
