<br />After due investigation of allbids and being duly advised on the premises, The Board
<br />of Public Works and Safety decides that the bids of the Reed Construction Company for th
<br />construction of the improvements known as ILLINOIS STREET PAVEMENT improvement according
<br />to Improvement Resolution No. 2675, 1951 is the lowest and best bid and that the contras
<br />to do said work be awarded to Reed Construction Company . Said bid being as follows:

<br />Therefor Be It Resolved, By the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Sout
<br />Bend, Indiana, that the bids of the Reed Construction Company for the construction of th
<br />improvements described in Improvement Resolutions No. 2675 and 2679, 1951s passed by thi
<br />Board on August 20, 1951, and confirmed by this Board on September 17, 1951, be and the
<br />same are hereby adopted and that the City of South Bend, Indiana, thru its Mayor and
<br />Board of Public Works and Safety enter into a written co ntraet with said Reed Construc-
<br />tion Company for the faithful executor of such work, according to said bids, the detaile
<br />plans and specifications and the terms of said Resolutions, provided that before enterin
<br />upon the performance of said eontxacts, said Reed Construction Company shall give bond,
<br />in the amount equal to one hundred (100) per cent of the contract.priee for such work,
<br />with a Surety Company legally authorized to transact business in the State of Indiana,
<br />as Surety, to the approval of this Board, to secure the performance of such contracts,
<br />and shall give a Maintenance Bond in the amount equal to fifty (50 ) per cent of the
<br />contracts price for such work., with a Surety Company legally authorized to transact busi
<br />ness in the State of Indiana, as Surety, to the approval of this Board to warrant and
<br />quarantee the work, material and condition of the pavements for a. period of three (3)
<br />years, and to hold the City of South Bend, Indiana, harmless from payment of any debtor
<br />damage by reason of any -act of such Contractor, and to secure the payment of all claims
<br />for labor and material used in such improvements.

<br />Whereas, the Board of Public Works did on the 8th day of October, 1951s adopt a Pre
<br />liminary Order designating Bituminous doncrete (AH) as the kind of pavement for the im-
<br />provement of NORTH SHORE DRIVE from the west line -of Michigan Street to the east line of
<br />Lafayette Blvd.,,In accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2682, 1951s passed by thi
<br />Board on August 20, 1951, and confirmed by this Board on September 17: 1951.
