A petition was received asking for the installation of a traffic signal at Williams <br />and Marion Streets. This was referredto the traffic engineer. <br />RAILROAD: The following letter was received from the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Co: <br />Board of Public Works & Safety <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Attention: Freda G. Noble, Clerk-. <br />Dear Madam: <br />Yours of May 1 ordering the Grand 'Trunk Western Railroad Company to install an over- <br />head street light at the grade crossing..of the Grand Trunk Railroad at 30th Street in <br />South Bend. <br />This is to advise that this light was installed on June 1, 1951. <br />Yours truly, <br />W. L. Dayton <br />Signal Engineer. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A Contractorts Bond was approved and ordered filed for H. G. <br />CTMistman Cons rue ion Company, Inc. <br />Belleville Lumber and Supply Company was given permission to erect a fence along the <br />property on the west side of Niles Avenue from Colfax Avenue south to Heckts Addition. <br />This fence is to be located 30 inches in from the property line of .the curb. Permission <br />was, also, granted for a driveway opening, located on Washington Street and not to exceed <br />30 feet in width. <br />United Air Lines was granted permission to house *ithin the well -house in the air- <br />port, equipment for their VHF radio installation according to a sketch submitted to the <br />Board. <br />'I A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indicating that they approve <br />!the vacation of the alley west of Main Street from Donald Street to Ewing Avenue. The <br />;City Engineer was directed to prepare a_vacation resolution for same. <br />�V/ A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indicating that they approve ]hhe <br />A vacation of the alley north of IT -iron Street from Warren Street to Carlisle Street. The <br />\;City Engineer was directed to prepare a vacation resolution for same. <br />It was the decision of the Board to accept the bid of Mancini and Vettrella for the <br />Hydraulic and LaSalle Avenues Sanitary and Storm Sewers for the total bid price of <br />$39.723.75• <br />CONTRACTORS COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT <br />Nos. 2661 and 2663 - 1951 <br />STATE OF INDIANA ) <br />) SS: <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY ) <br />IN THE MATTER relating to the Improvement made under Improvement Resolutions Nos. <br />2661 and 2663 - 1951, and the plans and specifi.cationstherefor comes now Virgil H. Reed <br />who being duly swrrn upon oath deposes and says he, is acquainted with the Reed Construc- <br />tion Company the party to whom was awarded the contract and who performed the work under <br />Improvement Resolution N"o.2661-1951 ALLEY BETWEEN ALTGELD AND VICTORIA STREETS and Re - <br />Solution No. 2663-1951, EDISON STREET PAVEMENTS. <br />That he is familiar with and personally knows the requirementsof the plans and spe- <br />cifications of said improvement resolutions and further knows that the said Reed Construc- <br />tion Company in the performance of said work complied with all the terms and conditions <br />of said plans and specifications in every particular, and that the material used was of <br />the character, kind, quantity and quality required therein and according to and under the; <br />direction of the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />Virgil H.
