The bus presently runs east on Calvert <br />to Kendall Street, north on Kendall to Indiana Avenue, and east on Indiana Avenue to <br />Main Street. They wish to change the route and have it run east on Calvert Street to <br />Main Street. The Board took the petition under advisement until next Monday. <br />TAXI CABS; This being the date set for hearing on the application of United Cab Company;; <br />Inc., for a license to operate a taxi cab company, hearing was held. Comes now Joseph <br />Pawlowski, representing the United Cab Company of South Bend, Indiana. He informed the I�? <br />. <br />Board that Attorney George Sands had been retained by the United Cab Company. He furthe% <br />informed the Board that Mr. Sands was unable to be present on this date as he was attend= <br />ing a trial. He, therefore, requested that the hearing be set over for one week or unti <br />such time as the Board wishes to set a date for the hearing. Mr. George Beamer, Attorney <br />for the Indiana and South Bend CaD Companies, protested against the continuing of the <br />hearing as he had his evidence and was ready to be heard. Mr. James Keating, represent- <br />ing William. Heirman, a memberof the public and President of the Taxi Drivers Local #141,� <br />and Walter Whitacre, member of the public and Secretary of the Courtesy Cab Company, <br />stated that he was ready to be heard. After a full discussion of the matter, it was the,; <br />decision of the Board to continue the hearing on the aforementioned application until <br />Monday, July 2, 1951 at 2:00 p.m. <br />r <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractorts Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Edward <br />Burton; Joseph F. Kuzmits; and S. Edward Merrill. <br />fC <br />An Excavation Bond in the amount of $10,000.00 for the Checkley Contractors., Inc., <br />li <br />was approved and ordered filed. II <br />!j <br />An Excavation Bond in the amount of $2,000.00 for the Burton Construction Corp., j <br />was approved and ordered filed. II <br />An Excavation Bond in the amount of $5,000.00 for the Rieth-Riley Construction Co., <br />was approved and ordered filed. • <br />A petition was received asking that the name of Crumstown Avenue be changed to Ardmoe <br />Trail. This was referred to the Common Council. <br />A petition was received asking for the construction of a pavement on Bulla Street j <br />from Portage Avenue to -Wilber Street. This was referred to the City Engineers Office. <br />The Board approved plans and specifications for the paving of Lincolnway East from <br />Monroe Street to Michigan Street; and Jefferson Boulevard from Lafayette Boulevard to <br />the east end of Jefferson Bridge. The Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise for <br />bids for said paving, which will be received until July 16, 1951. <br />The Board approved plans for a sewer on Chalfant Street and on Bissell Street. � <br />• <br />i <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2651 <br />This being the date set for the continued hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 2651, <br />the hearing is now continued until December 24, 1951. <br />i <br />
