<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, April 90 1951 at

<br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertaining
<br />to his department were discussed.
<br />TAXI CABS. A letter was received from Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, indicating that
<br />he recommends thtt the request for a cab stand at the north east corner of Western Ave.,
<br />and Main Street on the north side of 'V.,Festern Avenue at the first im ter east of Main St.,
<br />by the Yellow Cab Company be denied, as there is already in service a two -cab stand
<br />located just east of the proposed location serving the Union Bus Depot. The Board, then
<br />upon denied the petition of the Yellow Cab Company for the above -named cab stand as ad-
<br />ditional taxi service in that immediate area is, in the. Board's opinion, unnecessary.
<br />BUSSES: A letter was received from the Northern Indiana Transit, Incorporated, request-
<br />ing permission to reduce the service and milegge operated on Sundays and holidays. No
<br />action was taken.
<br />ENQI.NEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractors Bonds for Lyle D. Burnside and Philip M. Glassman
<br />d b a B. & G. Construction; Frank J. Ellis and Margaret A. Ellis d/b/a Ellis Construc-
<br />tion Company; W - W Construction Company; Stanley J. Wachowiak; and Peter R. Wisniewski
<br />were approved and ordered filed.
<br />An Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000 for the Sollitt Construction Company,
<br />Inc.; Edcavation Bond in.the amount of $10,000 for ColpaertRealty Corporation; and
<br />Excavation Bond in the amount of $5,000 for Percival Hains d/b/a Haines & Haines were
<br />approved and ordered filed.
<br />The Board approved plans for street improvement, curb only, for Jefferson Street
<br />from Chicago Street to Kenmore Street for the Colpaert Realty Corporation.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2659
<br />This being the date set for continued hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 2659, come
<br />now Richard Kaczmarek, Attorney for the remonstrators, who requests the hearing on the
<br />above resolution be continued until April 16, 1951 at 11:00 a.m.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2660
<br />Raymond S. Anrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the awar
<br />of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of CHERRY TREE
<br />LANE from the west line of Ironwood Drive to the west line of Morris County Club Additi
<br />190 feet long by 60 feet wide under Vacation Resolution No. 2660.
