Bruggner <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />SEWAGE DISPOSAL: The Board approved an Agreement of Easement between the City of South <br />Bend and the Lock Joint Tube Company for a right-of-way to construct the intercepting <br />sewer across lands owned.by,the Lock Joint Tube Company. <br />j STREET DEPARTMENT: Melton 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his Department were discussed. <br />I The following letter w#s received by th@ Board: <br />o <br />1 Dear Mrs. Noble: <br />! This is your authority to permit the Street Department of the City of <br />South Bend to dump street sweepings and,fill dirt on Lots #20, #21 and <br />#22, Corporan & Duck Edition, 33rd and Northside Boulevard, South Bend. <br />! <br />Sincerely yours, <br />! <br />Thomas B. Grant, Jr. <br />. c 315,North Williams Street <br />South Bend 1, Indiana <br />The Board <br />authorized the Street Commissioner to use <br />the above described lots for <br />dumping street <br />sweepings and fill dirt. <br />The Board <br />signed an Agreement for the cleaning of <br />State Highways by the <br />City Stree <br />Department at a <br />price of $7.50 per hour. Said agreement <br />was sent to the State <br />Highway <br />• <br />Commission for <br />signature and acceptance. <br />The Street <br />Commissioner informed the Board that he <br />was in need of an Oil <br />Fired <br />Horizontal Type <br />Tubular Steam Boiler, and the Clerk of the <br />Board was directed <br />to adverti <br />for same. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertainingto <br />his Department were discussed. <br />Letter Bids having been requested for a tent for -the Cemetery Department, the follow. <br />ing bids were received: <br />• j City Awning Company <br />i 14222 Mishawaka Ave., <br />South Bend 15, Ind. <br />1 - 16, x 201 --- 1116" Height of center <br />12.41 ounce Chapel Grey tent complete <br />with poles and stakes ............... $ 313.50 <br />South Bend Awning Company if <br />1122 Mishawaka Avenue 1 <br />it South Bend, Indiana i <br />• - 1 - 151x21' - - 8.98 ounce Army Duck tent .... 8 268.85. �I <br />The Board accepted the bid of the City Awning Company, their bid being, in the Board'Is <br />opinion, the lowest and best bid received. <br />PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the week <br />ending March 10, 1951. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:00 a.m. <br />ATTEST: <br />0 <br />
