TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertain;.. ing to his Department were discussed. The Board approved the installation of a traffic signal at Kaley Street and Western Avenue. The Board approved the installation of stop signs at the following locations: Washington Street at Notre Dame Avenue, both sides Englewood Place and Oakwood Avenue, both sides Mr. Tuthill, 214 North !kalsh Street appeared before the Board to present a petition carrying 103 signatures and accompanied by about thirty other persons to ask for pedes- trian protection at the crossing of Eddy Street and Colfax Avenue. They ask that the crossing be protected by either a patrolman or one of the auxiliary patrolwomen. The pe. tition was referred to Mr. Miller by the Board and Mr. Tuthill was informed that the Boar would take the matter under consideration and a report will be made at their next regular; meeting. ENGINEERING DEPARTIvNT: Contractor's Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Ira C. .,Mast of Elkhart, Indiana; and, T. W. Miller. I. I' VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2655 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC I'eORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it is.de ;sirable to vacate the following: The first alley south of Calvert Street from William Street to the west line of the alley east of V.illiam Street. i The following property may be injuriously or beneficially_affected by such vacation. - Lots Numbered 269 to 285 Inclusive and 322 to 331 Inclusive, in D. M. Shiveley's Addition Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 29th day of September and on the 6th day of October, 1950 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the Weekly Mirror. 1 This Board at its office in the City Hall on the 16th day of October, 1950 at 11:00 a.m. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these proceedings. Bruggner BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS 3c SAFETY A petition was received asking for the vacation of.the first alley south of Frederic - son Street from O'Brien Street to Huey Street. This was referred to the Engineering De- partment for the preparation of a vacation resolution. A petition was received requesting the vacation of the first alley south of Ford Street between Grant and Warren Streets. This was referred to the Engineering Department" for the preparation of a vacation resolution. A petition was received asking for the resurfacing of St. Joseph Street between Oak side and Rfoodside Streets. This was referred to the City 'Engineer. The Board approved plans for street improvements for the Colpaert Realty Company for the following: Burbank Avenue; :Talton Avenue from Windsor Place to Lombardy Drive; 1 i�,'indsor Avenue; Walton Avenue from Linden Avenue to V.'indsor Place; Villageway; and, Glad stone Avenue from Iffashington Street to Linden Avenue. The Board approved sewer plans for the Colpaert Realty Company for the following: Lombardy Drive; Washington Street; Sylvan Lane; Garden Lane; Sample Street; Parkway; and Scenic Drive. Mr. Ralph Davenport, Plant Superintendent and Mr. Dan Kleitzman, Division Manager, ii representing the Northern Public Service Company appeared before the Board to discuss come plaints relative to obnoxious odors emanating from the gas plant. They stated that they would look for the source of the bad odors and try to eliminate same.
