After a lengthy discussion <br />!and hearing all complaints, it was the decision of the Board that Mr. Ernest Miller, Traf- <br />fic Engineer, further investigate and discuss the parking problem of the Studebaker employ- <br />ees to see what can be done to remedy the situation. <br />PARKING LOTS: The South Bend Parking Company, Incorporated, filed a notice of price change <br />Iat Lot South V'.Test Corner of Main and LaSalle Streets, effective August 24, 1950. <br />'ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractors' Bonds in the amount of �$1,000 were approved and <br />ordered filed for the American trVheelabrator and Equipment Corporation of Mishawaka, Ind.; <br />.!Benjamin Brothers; James F. Keller; and, Uhitcomb and Keller, Incorporated. <br />An Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000 was approved and ordered filed for the <br />,`Northern Indiana Public Service Company. <br />A letter was written to the Dan Webster Coal Company, 833 S. Fellows Street in accord- <br />ance with complaints made by the adjacent property owners in regard to coal dust due to <br />expanded operation into the lot immediately north of present coal yard. They were asked <br />to have a representative appear before the Board at the next regular meeting,to discuss <br />methods of eliminating this nuisance. <br />Letters were written to the Edwards Iron 1,orks, 2901 South Main Street, and the Stu- <br />debaker Corporation, 635 South Main Street, in accordance with complaints made by Mr. L. <br />C. Robertson, 3116 South Main Street, representing property owners in that vicinity, regard- <br />ing foreign matter coming from the chimneys of said companies. <br />The hearing on the vacation of the alley north of Pokagon Street from Michigan Street <br />'to the east line of the alley west of Michigan Street AND the alley west of Michigan Street <br />!from Pokagon Street to Angela Boulevard under Vacation Resolution No. 2651 was continued <br />!until September 112 1950. <br />The Board approved plans submitted by the Thomas L. Hickey, Incorporated, for the <br />`.erection of a canopy for a commercial building on the northwest corner of Main Street and <br />{LaSalle Avenue. This canopy will extend out from the building 5 feet 3 inches and 13 feet <br />above the sidewalk. <br />H <br />
