<br />Mr. Smith, representing the South Bend Shrine Club, appeared before the Board to re-
<br />quest permission to install a 5,000 gallon tank for oil storage along the east side of
<br />their building on East Washington Street. This was referred. to the City Engineer to chec
<br />with the Fire Inspector, and a temporary permit.was given to them subject to withdrawal
<br />if the need for a public alley arises, or if the area to be used should ever be needed fo
<br />public use, or if public safety should require it.
<br />The Common Council _referred a complaint with reference to rats in the Bowman Creek
<br />area to the Board of Public Works and Safety and the Board directed that an investigatio
<br />be made.
<br />J VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2650
<br />Mr. R. S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll snowing the awards
<br />of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of a parcel of
<br />:'land located on the north side of iffiest Garst Street, at the northwest corner of the inter:
<br />section of West Garst Street and South Franklin Street, beginning at the northwest inter-,
<br />section of said streets a distance due south 20.20 feet, thence due west a distance of
<br />99.50 feet, thence due south a distance of 12.00 feet, thence due west a distance of 20.06
<br />feet, thence due north a distance of 32.20 feet, thence due east a distance of 119.50
<br />feet to the point of beginning under Vacation Resolution No. 2650.

<br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in the City
<br />;Hall at 10:00 A.M. (C.S.T.) on the llth day of September, 1950, for the purpose of hear-
<br />ing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vaca-
<br />tion, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount
<br />fof damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners -by publish -
<br />ling same on the 25th day of August and•on the lst day of September, 1950, in the South
<br />Bend Daily Tribune and the Weekly Mirror Press.

<br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE -CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it is,
<br />desirable to vacate ,the following:
<br />The alley north of U11estern Avenue from Franklin Street to the west line of the alley
<br />west of Lafayette Boulevard.
<br />The following property may be inuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation:
<br />Lots Numbered 403 to 408 inclusive, part of the Original Plat of South Bend
<br />also
<br />Lots Numbered 17 to 22 inclusive, part of Vail's Southwest Addition, and Lot
<br />Number 23, except the North 52 feet, part of�Vailts Southwest Addition.
