<br />After due consideration of the entire St. Joseph River problem the Board agreed t
<br />Ithc construction at this time, bar the cit7',7, of South Bend, of a. plant which will provide
<br />!!an intcrmicdiate degree of treatment equal to at least 65 percent removal of the biochemi-`
<br />Ical oxygen demand. '-,,'his plant must also include chlorination and be so constructed that
<br />;!the secondary treatment units can be added when t7-:c need for these units develops.

<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Worl�,-,s and
<br />Ohas ddtermined that it would be for the best interests of said City and its citizens to is
<br />brovide for the construction and improver,:cnt, of certain sewers in said City and that the
<br />t1construction and improvement of such sewers is necessary in order to Protect the health i
<br />i land well-being of the citizens and will be of general benefit to the entire City; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and S@-+'ct-,.7- finds that the estimated cost of the
<br />• 'Pnstruction and improvement of said sewers and the incidental expenses in copnection
<br />therewith will be in the amount of One Million Dollars (,1,000,000.00): now therefore
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of 'outh Bend, Ind_iana, that this Board request the City Controller and Common Council to take proper
<br />;Steps immediately to provide the necessar-,7 funds for said purpose, in the amount of One
<br />!Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00), and to that end that a copy of this resolution be filed
<br />1with the City Controller and City Clerk, and presented to the Common Council- at the next
<br />''meeting thereof.
