Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approv- <br />ed. II <br />RAILROADS: A copy of a letter addressed to Mr. Aaron Huguenard was received by the Board! <br />wherein the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad indicate that they have been wa.tc'- <br />ing the condition of the pavement around their tracks on the city streets in South Bend. <br />The Railroad Company further states that as soon as the weather conditions are favorable <br />the situation will be remedied. <br />A letter was received from the Grand Trunk Railway System advising that an over -head; <br />electric light had been installed at the Ironwood grade crossing. <br />A letter was received from the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company acknowledging <br />1 <br />receipt of the letter from the Board directingg the Railroad Company to erect short -arm <br />automatic gates at the Logan Street and the 26th Street grade crossing. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTT�El`vT _ .A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indicating <br />I <br />that the petition�to condemn eight feet of land in Twyckenham Hills Addition for alley <br />j <br />purposes was tabled because of the greater practicability of widening this alley by incre5.s- <br />ing the alley on the north side. <br />letter was received from R. D. Kuespert requesting permission to install metal <br />.A <br />signs in the parkway in various locations drawing attention to a church. The Board denie4l <br />this petition inasmuch as the Board has no authority to grant permission to use public <br />property for any such purposes. <br />i <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2621 <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by the; <br />Board of Public Works for the Vacation of the first alley west of Ironwood Drive from <br />Ewing .Avenue to the South Line of the alley North of Ewing Avenue under Vacation Resolu- <br />tion No. 2621. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and <br />no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the <br />Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be final- <br />ly adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to pre- <br />pare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of damages to <br />the surrounding properties. <br />Mr. R. S. Andrysiak' City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the award <br />of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the first <br />� <br />alley west of Ironwood Drive from Ewing Avenue to the south line of the alley north of <br />Ewing Avenue under Vacation Resolution No. 2621. <br />i <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in th-j <br />City Hall at 11:00 a.m. on the 27th day of March, 1950 for the purpose of hearing and <br />receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation, and <br />� <br />
