12 TRAFFIC ENGINEERING: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer was present and matters per- � taining to his department were discussed. BUSSES: Mr. Watterson and Mr. Hahn representing the Northern Indiana Transit Company ap- peared before the Board to discuss matters concerning the operation of their bus routes and also the feasibility of returning to their system of bus stops at every street inter. section. Mr. Watterson informed the Board that their bus drivers had been instructed on the points mentioned and the request for bus stops at all intersections was taken under advisement. GARBAGE: ASSIGNMENT j For value received, I hereby assign, transfer and set over to the Dependable Disposal Company, Inc., all of my right, title and interest in and to the con- tract for the collection and disposal of garbage for the City of South Bend, Indiana, during the calendar years 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1954, dated the 7th .. day of November, 1949, and executed by the City of ' South Bend, Indiana, a municipal corporation by and t through its Board of Public Works and Safety, and the undersigned, Herman F. The Clerk of the Board was directed to return the $500.00 check which accompanied the bid and the $17,875.00 check which accompanied the first bond to Mr. Leo,Reeder, Attorney for the Garbage Company. Board of Public Works, City Hall, South Bend, Indiana: • Gentlemen: We, the residents and purchasers of property at 1621 Altgeld wish to go on record as preferring not to have an alley at the rear of the property. When this property was purchased it was with the j distinct understanding that there are no alleys in the addition. Alleys are unsightly and it would seem to be a backward step to create on • in this addition. All the houses in this add- ition are so constructed that no rear access is necessary therefore enhancing the beauty of the neighborhood.
