Motion carried. <br />The Board requested that a letter be sent to the Northern Indiana Transit Co., Inc. <br />asking that a representative of their Company be present at the next regular Board meet- <br />ing on December 12th to discuss matters concerning the said Company. <br />ENGINEERING: <br />An Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000.00 was approved and ordered filed for <br />Howard H. White. <br />The following letter was received from the United States Gypsum Company: <br />"Since meeting with the Board of Public Works and Safety, <br />we have undertaken an extensive investigation relative to <br />the presence of mica resulting from our South Bend Plant <br />operation. `A complete investigation of our dust collection <br />system disclosed an obstruction under the cyclone in the <br />duct system. We have removed this obstruction and are con- <br />fident that you will find this system working to your complete <br />satisfaction. It <br />s/ Harry M. Armstrong <br />The Board directed that a letter be sent to W. S. Moore, Engineer, requesting him <br />to make a survey of the Pinhook Park Lagoon to ascertain whether or not pollution is <br />still present. <br />"The Board of Public Works and Safety is asking herewith <br />that you make a survey of the Pinhook Park Lagoon, some <br />time during this month. <br />We are partucularly interested in knowing whether or <br />not the pollution is still present, and what might be <br />done to eliminate this condition." <br />VACATION RESOLUTION No. 2610 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the <br />award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of : 1. The <br />first East-West alley South of Linden Avenue from Falcon Street Westward to the center <br />line of Section 9, except where the North and South alleys cross. 2. The first East- <br />West alley North of Colfax Avenue from Falson Street Westward to the center line of <br />Section 9, except where the North and South alleys cross. 3. Colfax Avenue from Falcon <br />Street Westward to the center line of Section 9, except where the North and South alleys <br />cross, and except the eighteen (18) center feet to be used as a public alley. 4, The <br />first East-West alley South of Colfax Avenue from Falcon Stree6 Westward to the center <br />line of Section 9, except where the North and South alleys cross.5.The first East-West <br />alley South of Washington Street from Kaley Street Westward to the center line of Sectio; <br />9, except where the North and South alleys cross. 6. The first East-West alley South <br />of Jefferson Street from Bendix Drive Westward to the center line of Section 9, except <br />where the North and South -alleys cross. NOTE: "Section 911 as referred to above is <br />Section 9 of T. 37 N. R. 2 E. of the 2nd P. M. under Vacation Resolution No, 2610, <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written rem- <br />onstrances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices <br />and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots an <br />parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The <br />Board, therefore, decides to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same <br />in all things ratified, confirmed and approved with the following modification: The <br />easements existing now adjacent to Lots 1019 and 1085 shall be reserved and remain as, <br />they were prior to the vacation and the proceedings closes, and the alleys vacated upon <br />receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefit <br />and all proceedings had with reference to said alleys vacation are hereby sustained. <br />The Board approved plans and specifications for a`sewer on Addison Street from <br />Jennings Street to Klinger Street for the Whitcomb -Keller Company. <br />Whitcomb and Keller presented the Board with a Quit -claim deed for a tract of land <br />sixty,(60) wide to be used as a street to be known as Addison Street. This deed is <br />filed prior to the dedication of the street to allow the sewer project to start. <br />The Clerk was directed to advertise for bis for the resurfacing of East Jefferson <br />Street from Niles Avenue east to Eddy Street and the resurfacing of Washington Street <br />from Main Street West to Chestnut Street.
