572 August 22, 1949 A regular meeting of the Board ,of Public Works was held Monday, .Au Bust 22, 1949 at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $25,438.15 were approved. Claims of the follo ing suppliers in the amount of $10,275 were approved and ordered paid: TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT; _Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer was present and matters pertain ing to his department were discussed. SEWAGE DISPOSAL: I A letter was received from Consoer, Townsend.and Associates indicating that they had requested the successful bidders on the Intercepter Sewers to proceed with the work. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's Bonds in the amount of $1,000.00 were approved and ordered filed for Woltma.n Brothers and the Taylor Construction Company, Inc. The First Presbyterian Church and the Indiana Club were granted permission to erect a canopy over their enterances on September 10, 191+9 for one day only. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2596 This being the date set, hearing was held on the resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of Public Works for the vacation of Part of Alley blest of Vernon Street from Dubail Avenue North a distance of 114 feet under Vacation Resolution No. 2596. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assess- ment roll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of damages to the surroundin properties. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING FINAL ESTIMATE No. 2567, 1948 South Bend, Indiana August 22, 1949 Be It Resolved, By the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the Final Estimate, and Primary or Preliminary Assessment Roll bubmitted to the Board by the City Civil Engineer or his duly authorized representative on this 22nd day of August, 1949, on the improvement known as the O'BRIEN STREET paving as des- cribed in Improvement Resolution No. 2567, 1948, adopted by the Board of Public Works and Safety on August 9, 191+81 be and the same is hereby adopted and the Clerk of this Board is hereby requested to give notice of the hearing of Special Benefits on said Improvement, as required by Section N.111 or 120 of an Act entitled, "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations" Approved March 6, 1905. The general character of the Improvement, the street, alley, or public place on which it h been made, and the terminal points thereof, are as follows: O'BRIEN STREET from the north line of Washington Street to the north property line of Lots 11 & 13 in Wheeler's Sub- division by draining, grading and paving the roadway with a Class "C" Type Four (4) Com- pacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface Pavement . There is on file in the office of the City Controller of said City an assessment roll with the names of the owners and description of property subject to be assessed with; the amount of the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the office of said City Controller. • • 11 0 0 0
