549 <br />Chief Petty Officer H. A. Turner, Navy Recruiting Station, appeared before the <br />Board requesting permission for a Naval Exhibit to be held at Playland Park on July <br />12th7 13th and 14th, 1949. Permission was granted to sound siren at the Park at 1:00 <br />)+ 30 and 7:30 P. M. Police to furnish escort when cavalcade enters town. Will make <br />shourt detour on the main city streets to advertise same on the way to the park. Per- <br />mission was granted. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: <br />iA <br />Contractor's Bond was approved and ordered filed for Joseph <br />McAdam. Excavation <br />Bonds in the amount of $1,,000 was approved and ordered filed for <br />0. E. Frame and Son; <br />W. H. Dreves, Inc., and the Indiana Bell Telephone.Company. <br />The Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise for bids for the paving of Olive <br />Street at the Grace Street intersection. Bids to be returnable on July 25th, 1949. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ryon appeared before the Board asking them <br />to assist in having <br />the zoning board reconsider a decision they had made. The Board <br />assured them that the <br />zoning board is a seperate unit of the City and the Board of Works in no way could alter <br />their decisions. <br />• <br />This being the day set for receiving bids for the paving of <br />Thirty -Second Street <br />I from the north line of Pleasant Street to the south line of Vine <br />Street, the following <br />sealed bids were opened and publically read: <br />REED CONSTRUCTION COMPANY of MISHAWAKA. Also a Maintenance bond and a performance bond for the above. <br />A contract between the City of South Bend and the Rieth-Riley Construction Company <br />Iwas approved by the Board for the paving of Grace Street from the west line of alley <br />• west of Webster Street to the west property line of Oliver Farm Equipment Company <br />under Improvement Resolution No. 2588. Also a Maintenance Bondand a performance bond <br />for the above. <br />A contract between the City of South Bend and the Reed Construction Company was <br />approved by the Board for the paving of Trerity-Fourth Street from Ithe north line of <br />Mishawaka Avenue to the south property line of Lots "C" and "D" in Hastings, Woodward <br />and Grays addition under Improvement Resolution No. 2590. Also a Maintenance Bond and <br />a performance bond for the above. <br />II 'A contract between the City of South Bend and the Rieth-Riley Construction Company <br />• �Iwas approved by the Board for the paving of Poland Street from the west line of Olive <br />(Street to the east line of Ka,ley Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2592. Also a <br />(Maintenance Bond and a performance bond for the above. <br />
