5�tj I TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: __:_Mr,._ Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer was present and matters per- taining to his department were discussed. Mr. Miller informed the Board that he had installed the following stop signs: Greenlawn at Colfax Avenue both sides and Arnold at Sample Street, north West side. The Board approved the above installations. Mr. Miller informed the Board that an awning on a building at Williams Street and • Lincoln Way West was obscuring the traffic signal. The Board instructed that the prop-; erty owner be notified to remove aforesaid awning forthwith. • • • • ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A $10,000 Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for the Pinhook Manor, Inc., and Contractor's Bond in the amount of $1,000 was approved and ordered filed for Leo A. Lippman, d/b/a Pinhook.Manor Inc, and Genteil H. Dhaeze. Mr. K. L. NeAl, representing the Sollit Construction Company, Inc., appeared before the Board to ask permission to erect a street barricade'a.nd a covered pedestrian walkway on the East Side of Lafayette Boulevard at the rear of the South Bend Tribune building for a period of six (6) months from June 1st, 1949 to December lst, 1949 inclusive. The Board granted said permission. A petition was received asking for the vacation of an alley between St. Joseph Stree and Carrol Street from Dubail Avenue south to the East and West alley. This was referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: -Mr -.-.Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the week ending May 28, 1949.
