Cole & Son <br />Engineers - Architects <br />October 25, 1948 <br />The Bids for the improvement of Sibley Avenue from the West line of Wilber Street to <br />the East line of College Street in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2580 1948 <br />passed by this Board on September 30, 1948, are hereby referred to you for examination <br />and tabulation to report to us with recommendations. <br />R. S. Andrysiak <br />F. &. Baer <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />A contract between the City of South Bend, Indiana and the Reed Construction Company <br />of Mishawaka? Indiana was approved by the Board, for the paving of Twenty-fifth (25th) <br />Street from the North line of Mishawaka. Avenue to the south property line of Lots "All and <br />"B" in Hastings, Woodward and Gray Addition, under Improvement Resolution No. 2575 1948. <br />1�A Maintenance bond and a. Performance Bonds for the above improvement were alto approved <br />!by the Board. <br />A contrast between the City of South Bend, Indiana and the Reed Construction Company;! <br />of Mishawaka' Indiana was approved by the Board for the paving of South Kosciuszko Streetli <br />from the North line of Sample Street to the south line of Dunham Street, under Improvement <br />Resolution No. 2574 1948. A Maintenance Bond and a Performance Bond for the above improv- <br />ment were also approved by the Board. <br />T � <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton 0. Brannan, Street Commission,ari was present and matters !i <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />The following letter was drafted and sent to the Common Council: <br />October 25, 1948 <br />Members of the Common Council, <br />City Hall? y <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety took under discussion the removal of mucx and the <br />filling with gravel a sink hole at the intersection of Olive and Grace Streets, in order <br />to stop further gas.. -.leaks from the mains at that location. <br />The City Engineer reported that he had contacted the Chief Engineer for the Northern <br />Indiana, Public Service Company who advised him that they will be ready to change these <br />mains as soon as the steel pipe arrives that this was expected within approximately one <br />week. <br />The Board considered this matter fully and the Street Commissioner was instructed to co- <br />operate with the Northern Indiana Public Service Company in excavating that part of the <br />street referred to, and in the laying of the steel mains. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr, Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining <br />to his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:00 A.M. � X52 <br />ATTEST: <br />Clerk <br />0 <br />C <br />• <br />0 <br />0 <br />
