<br />ENGIlEERING DEPARTILINT: Contracterts bonds in an amount of 1,000.00 were approv
<br />ed and ordered filed for S-L-A-B Construction Company and 14illiam `4lilson.
<br />The City Engineer, Mr, Ray Andrysiak, informed the Board that he was in need
<br />of a new car for his department, and.the Clerk of the Board was directed to adver-
<br />tise for one with bidsto be returnable on August 4, 1947.
<br />The Board approved the plat of Coquillard Woods, Section D, Subdivision to
<br />the City of South Bend, the streets and alleys wherein having been already ded-
<br />icated to the public use and accepted,previously for the city by and through its
<br />Qard of Public Viorks and Safety.
<br />A letter was received from the Studebaker Corporation asking permission to
<br />remove from the'Nertheeast corner of Tutt Street, north side of Street adjoin-
<br />ing their building 47A, two small safety island which are now between their
<br />drivewaysinto their building. The islands are situared 191 and 39t feet respect-
<br />ively from the northeast corner of LaFayette and Tutt Streets. The Board drafted
<br />a letter to the Studebaker Corporation indicating that the islands coule be re-
<br />moved by them provided that they will station a guard at the driveway to protect
<br />pedestrian traffic zJhen backing up their trailer trucks.
<br />STREET DEPARTIaIENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and
<br />matters pertaining to his department were c.iscusr ea.
<br />The Board approved the closing of McPherson Street between Thomas and Napier
<br />Streets: July 25, 26 and 27, 1947 for a Festival given by St. Stephents Church.
<br />CEMETERY DEPARTIVENT: Mr, Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters
<br />pertaining to his department were discussed.
<br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
<br />adjourned at 10: 00 A.IrI.
