D. Lee Mercantile Company for road oil and asphalt. <br />A form of contract between the Board of Public Works and Safety and Andrew A, <br />Toth for preliminary services in connection with general,structural and mechanical <br />plans for erecting a new one-story structure for the City Street Department was <br />approved by the Board and it was directed that the Board should execute such con- <br />tract upon its execution by Mr. Toth and submit it to the Common Council for ap- <br />proval. <br />C 71IETERY D PARTTrTEfi1T: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters <br />pertaining to is epartment were discussed. ., <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10:00. <br />li ATTEST.' <br />August 19, 1946 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public ".?orks was held on ITonday, August 19, <br />1946 at 8:30 A.I:T. All members were present. I, inutes of the last meeting were read <br />and approved. The Board granted permission for the 90 day trial <br />run, which, if successful, is -to be perrlanent. <br />The Northern Indiana Transit Company also presented written requests for <br />additional bus service on an experimental basis for a 90 dcy period beginning <br />September 28, 1946 as follows: Olive Street, which is located approximately <br />one-half mile,west of Nash Street is a north and south street in direction and <br />is not provided with bus transportation, the proposed experiment is to operate <br />the base schedule of the Ritm Village line every fifteen minutes west on <br />Indiana Avenue to Olive Street, then South on Olive Street to Prairie ;1venue then <br />Northeast on Prairie Avenue to various other streets that are now followed to the <br />Court Douse; Also Belleville Gardens which is located approximately one-half mile <br />west of Sheridan Street on Sample Street is not provided with bus transportation, <br />the proposed experiment is to operate the base schedule of the Western Avenue bus <br />line every fifteen minutes west on Semple Street to Belleville Gardens and return <br />to Sheridan Street, the residents of Delleville Gardens to provide proper facilit- <br />ies for the turning of the buses at the terminus of the line. The Board approved <br />this additional service and stipulated that if the 90 day experiment proves succ- <br />essful the run should be perrmanent. <br />
