214 <br />TRAFFIC DEPAR7'i'>IENT: 11r. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertain <br />ing to his department were discussed. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARaniIENT: A petition was received aksing for the vacation of an alley <br />between Dubail and Randolph Streets from Marine Street to the East line of the first alle <br />',West of Marine Street.. This was referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation <br />and report. <br />Mr. "Nilliams informed the Board that he was in need of a new one-half ton pick-up I • <br />truck, and the Board directed the Clerk of the Board to' advertise for bids for same. <br />Bids will be accepted up to 11:00 A.Tvl. on September 17, 1945. li <br />Contrac:.or s bonds in the amount of 11,000.00 were approved for Homer L. Short and <br />Virgil H. Reed d/b/a Reed Construction Company, '�Ihiteomb & Yeller, Harr;- H. Verkler and <br />C. A. Jordan Company., These were ordered filed. <br />Mr. Clyde E. ',7illiams, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the j! <br />awards of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the (I <br />alley South of Pleasant Street from 25th Street to the East line of the alley Nest of �I <br />25th Street under vacation resolution No. 2537. <br />I <br />In the above named assessment roll, the board hereby orders that it will meet in <br />the City Hall at 11:00 A.L11. on the 17th day of September, 1945, for the purpose of hear- �I <br />ing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vaca- Ij <br />Lion, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount ;I <br />of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishin, <br />same on the 31st day of August and on the 7th day of September, 1945, in the South Bend , <br />Daily Tribune and the 4eekly Mirror. <br />T r. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />i <br />The Board decided that men on the Street Department who work on an hourly basis <br />j <br />should be paid for the days they worked during the V-J holiday and should be given a <br />I <br />two day paid vacation before the end of the year. The men aho did not work should be <br />paid for the two days they did not work. <br />CEr,TETURY DEPAF'TTKENT: Mir.
