213_ 0 ENGINEERING DEPARTTI'ENT: Mr. 7.7illiams presented the following letter in reply to a request from the Board to the Yax Adler Company to have a bad piece of sidewalk in front of their place of business repaired: August 14, 1945 Mr. Clyde E. IJilliams, City Civil Engineer, Department of Engineering, South Bend, Indiana Dear Mr. Williams** In reply to your letter of July 31, 1945 we have contacted the land- lords, giving them the information contained in your letter. RE SOLUTION TdO. 2537 This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of Public adorks for the vacation of the alley South of Pleasant Street from 25th Street to the .East line of the 1illey ';lest of 25th Street, under vacation resolution No. 2537. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having a-peared and no written re7.ionstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to, prepare an assessment roll covering; the assess:-Ient of benefits and the award of damages to the surrounding properties. STRE-LiT DEPARTMENT: Mr. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters pertaining to his department -.sere discussed. BOARD: The Board granted permisiion to the Polish Army Veterans Association, Haller Post, to sell r'oppies on the city streets on August 25, 1945. CEMETERY DEPLR1MENT: P;Ir. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters- pertain- ing to his department were discussed. There being no further business to come before the 3oard, the meeting was adjourned a t 10 :-90 .j" .
