<br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, January 15,
<br />1945 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. Levy Was absent. Minutes of the last meeting were read and
<br />approved, Salary claims in the amount of $24,135.64 were approved and ordered paid.
<br />Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $263.99 were approved and ordered

<br />TRAFFIC DEPA.R5IENT: Mr. Ernest biller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per-
<br />taining to his department were discussed.
<br />I ENGINEERING DEPARTIVTENT: Excavation bonds in the amount of $1000.00 each were approved
<br />If for Abe- Imo. Medow and Joseph I41. Hiznay. These were ordered filed.
<br />The public hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 2530 having been continued to this
<br />i date, hearing was had. Twenty-one persons were present to remonstrate agains the
<br />vacation. Kr. Frank Kopinski, Attorney representing t-ne remonstrators, Mr. Walter
<br />Arnold, representing the petitioner Yr. Rocco Simeri, Mr. Simeri and Mr. Arthur May,
<br />Attorney representing the Conservative Life Company, were also present. After a full
<br />discussion of the facts, Mr. 'Viilliams suggested that inasmuch as Mr. Levy was absent,
<br />the Board take the matter under advisement and a decision be reached by the next Board
<br />c I meeting.
<br />3 CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: I,Tr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matc:ers pertain-
<br />ing to his department were discussed.
<br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourne
<br />at 10:00 A.I,-.

<br />at 9:00 A.I,". Mr. Levy was absent. Linutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
<br />There were no claims of suppliers to be approved.
<br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT.- I,Tr. Ernest r:Tiller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per-
<br />taining to his department were discussed.
<br />Mr. ";_i ller was authorized by the Board to attend the Purdue Road School at LaFay-
<br />ette, Indiana on January 29th, 30th and 31st.
<br />ENGINE ERIXIG DEPARTMENT: Mr. Williams was also authorized to attend the Purdue rLoad
<br />i! School at LaFayette, Indiana on January 29-30 and 31st.

<br />DEDICATION
<br />`I 01HEE'REAS*' a plat with dedication of streets and alleys, indicated thereon,,is now
<br />! presented to the Board, to be known as "Colfax Place, a subdivision.. of Lot No. 67,
<br />Rockafellers 3rd Addition" 'to the City of South .Bend, Indiana.
<br />This plat and dedication is filed in the records of the 3oard of Public ':corks and
<br />Safety in tiow #21, Drawer #4 and -recorded in BooK # 084 Pages 394-95, in the Record-
<br />er's office of St. Joseph County.
<br />• NO_,V, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public ','forks and Safety of South
<br />Bend, Indiana, that all public streets, alleys and public places dedicated to the
<br />public.use in said Plat, are hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on
<br />I behalf of the City of South Bend, Indiana. l'he above Plat was approved by the :City
<br />Plan Commission and submitted to the Board for their acceptance.
<br />j VACA1TIG11 RLSOLUTION No. 2530.
<br />After a full and complete discussion of all matters pertaining; to the vacation af`,,
<br />the-a11ey west of Brill Street under vacation resolution No. 2530, it was the"decision
<br />of the Board that the matter be tabled until after the war. It can then be, -'reconsidered
<br />!i as a post war project.
