- ORDINANCE N0 . 5240-70 = <br /> AN ORDINANCE CREATING A DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT TO PROVIDE FOR INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION <br /> WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana is desirous <br /> of increasing the employment opportunities and diversification <br /> of industry to improve the prosperity , economic stability and <br /> general welfare of the community, and <br /> WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Indiana <br /> enacted the "Municipal Economic Development Act of 1965", (Burns <br /> 48-8701 through 48-8725) and <br /> WHEREAS, a commission is needed to investigate, study <br /> and survey job opportunities , industrial diversification and <br /> economic stability, development and welfare of the City of South <br /> Bend, Indiana, and carry out the duties and powers as set forth <br /> in said Municipal Economic Development Act of 1965 . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of <br /> the City of South Bend, Indiana as follows : <br /> SECTION I . <br /> 1 . That there is hereby created the South Bend ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION to carry out the provisions of this Ordinance <br /> in accordance with the aforesaid 1965 Act . <br /> 2 . That the members of said Commission shall be appointed <br /> and shall perform the duties and exercise the powers all as set <br /> forth in the aforesaid Municipal Economic Development Act of 1965 . <br /> SECTION II . <br /> 1.
