ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOU'T'H BEND, <br />INDIANA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9863-08, WHICH FIXED NON <br />BARGAINING EMPLOYEE WAGES IN 2009, TO DEFINE FULL AND PART-TIME <br />EMPT OYEES <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />On September 8, 2008 the South Bend Common Council passed Ordinance 9863 -08 <br />which fixed salaries and wages of appointed officers and non bargaining employees for the City <br />of South Bend in calendar. year 2009. Ordinance 9863 -08 did not define full and part-time <br />employees. Therefore, should an issue arise over whether a person employed by the City in 2009 <br />qualifies as a full or part- employee, this ordinance provides definitional guidance and <br />clarification. to Ordinance 9863 -08. This ordinance also clarifies the type of major medical <br />health insurance information furnished to City employees in 2009. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA as follows: <br />SECTION I. Ordinance No. 9863 --08 at Section II is hereby amended to change existing <br />subpart "j" to subpart "1" and to add two new subparts "j" and "k ". Subparts 0)(k) and (1) of <br />Section II shall read in their entirety as follows: <br />(�) Definition of Full -Tine Employee Full -time employees are those. employe <br />who are not in a art time status and who are re Marl scheduled to work the City of South <br />Bend's full - time scheduled fort 40 hours per week or a reduced full -time schedule of thert - <br />two 32 hours oz more ez week as a roved b the Ma oz on a voluntar basis.
