9 Q_ <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND TO APPLY FOR ADVANCE FUNDS UNDER THE HOUSING <br />AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1974, AND TO <br />INCUR COSTS FOR THE PLANNING AND PREPARATION <br />OF AN APPLICATION FOR SUCH FUNDS. <br />WHEREAS, under terms of the Federal Housing and <br />Community Development Act of 1974, Public Law 93 -1'83, the <br />City of South Bend is entitled to receive $3,547,000 for <br />Community Development activities, and <br />WHEREAS, these funds shall be awarded to the <br />City of South Bend only upon receipt and approval by the <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development of a satisfactory <br />application, and <br />WHEREAS, an advance request of no more than 10 of the <br />entire grant entitlement is permitted in order to enable muni- <br />cipalities to plan and prepare for Community Development activities, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />SECTION I. That the City of South Bend be authorized <br />to apply for Advance Funds, in accordance with regulations oro- <br />mulgated by the Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and <br />Development, and <br />SECTION II. That the City of South Bend be authorized <br />to incur costs, beginning January 1, 1975, for the planning and <br />preparation of an application for Community Development funds. <br />SECTION III.
