modifications or changes in the scope, extent, character, or design requirements of or for the <br />Project, and upon written authorization from Owner, the Engineer shall: <br />1. The Engineer will meet to review the plait documents and to continue the coordination <br />efforts to ensure that the necessary elements of the plan development are on track and on <br />schedule. <br />2. Based on the comments provided by the City of South Bend staff, the Engineer will prepare <br />the construction documents, specifications and cost estimates for bidding purposes. <br />3. The Engineer will finalize the project Cost Estimate. <br />4. Progress Meeting #7: Upon refinement of the 100% Design package and finalization of the <br />cost estimate, the Engineer will conduct Progress Meeting #8 with the City of South Bend <br />staff to present the final plans, cost estimates, special provisions and bid tabs. <br />5. The Team will submit the 100% Submittal package to the Owner for final review and <br />comments prior to project bidding. <br />6. Deliverables for the 100% submittal to the Owner will be provided in PDF format. <br />B. Biddin or r Negotiatin Phase: <br />After acceptance by Owner of the bidding documents and the most recent opinion of probable <br />Construction Cost as determined from the 100% Construction Document submittal, and upon <br />written authorization by Owner to proceed, Engineer shall: <br />1. Assist Owner in advertising for and obtaining bids or proposals for the Work and, where <br />applicable, and maintain a record of prospective bidders to whom Bidding Documents have <br />been issued. <br />2. Coordinate and facilitate a Pre -Bid Meeting with the potential bidding contractors. <br />3. issue addenda as appropriate to clarify, correct, or change the bidding documents. <br />4. Provide information or assistance needed by Owner in the course of any negotiations with <br />prospective contractors. <br />5. Consult with Owner as to the acceptability of subcontractors, suppliers, and other <br />individuals and entities proposed by prospective contractors for those portions of the Work <br />as to which such acceptability is required by the bidding documents. <br />6. if bidding documents require, the Engineer shall evaluate and determine the acceptability of <br />"or equals" and substitute materials and equipment proposed by bidders. <br />7.
