RESOLUTION NO. , A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUB- MIT TO THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION, AN APPLICATION FOR LOCAL PUBLIC WORKS CAPITAL DEVELOP- MENT AND INVESTMENT FUNDS FOR THE WIDENING AND RE- CONSTRUCTION OF THE COLFAX BRIDGE; THE REHABILITA- TION OF THE EAST BANK RETAINING WALL; AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN EAST BANK WALKWAY AND PORTAGE FACILITY UNDER TITLE I OF THE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOY- MENT ACT OF 1976. WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of South Bend is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, and is the Applicant for a Public Works Employment Grant under Title I of the Public Works Employment Act of 1976. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: SECTION I: Hereby establishes the authority of the Mayor of the City of South Bend to submit an application for Public Works Employment Grant funds in the amount of One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,200,000.00) to the United States Government, Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration under Title I of the Public Works Employment Act of 1976. SECTION II: The Director of the Department of Public Works will be designated the Administrative Agent for this project. For every category established under this Resolution, the Mayor shall submit to the Common Council a line item budget prior to the expenditures of any grant money received upon approval of this application.
