October 30, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October <br />30, 1961 at 10:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and <br />ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />AWARDING OF BIDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT ( SEDAN AND STATION WAGON) <br />After examination, it was the decision of the Board that the following bids <br />be awarded for the Fire Department Sedan and Station Wagon: <br />Freeman -Spicer Co.,, Inc. <br />520 S. Lafayette Blvd. <br />South Bend 249 Indiana <br />1 - 1962 Studebaker Lark 4 Door Sedan VY6 <br />Special Discounted Price $3,863.66 <br />Less Federal Tax 204.69 <br />Less 2 Trade-ins 325.00 <br />_ <br />Total Net Delivered price $3,333.97 <br />1 - 1962 Studebaker Lark 4 Door Station Wagon VP6 <br />Special Discounted Price $4,132.66 <br />Less Federal Tax 228.80 <br />Less 2 Trade-ins 300.00 <br />Total Net Delivered Price $39603.86 <br />CHANGE ORDER - BREHMER ELECTRIC (-FIRE STATION NO..13) <br />The following Change Order was approved for Fire Station No. 13: <br />Brehmer Electric Co. <br />502 E. LaSalle Ave. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />For Public Address, Radio Alarm and Additional Wiring <br />Fire Station #13. $642.75 <br />PETITION REFERRED BY COUNCIL ( AMERICAN LEGION POST #357) TRAFFIC SIGNAL <br />A Petition referred from the Council to the Traffic Engineer for appro- <br />priate action and to the Board of Public Works & Safety to authorize <br />the Traffic Engineer to proceed was submitted to the Board. <br />Also submitted was a -report from Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, with <br />Petition. <br />reference to this The Petition, signed by the Commander and <br />Adjutant of the American Legion Post #357, Inc. was presented requesting <br />the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Western <br />Avenue (SR2) and Kosciuszko Street. <br />Mr. Hazinski also reported that, since this is a state highway, the <br />petition has been referred to the LaPorte District office of the Indiana <br />State Highway Department. <br />The Board recommended that the Traffic Engineer proceed with investigation <br />for_ installation of such a signal. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER REPORT-( NEW YORK RAILROAD SYSTEMS REQUEST - MEAD ST. <br />A report from Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer to the Board was submitted. <br />The report points out that the New York Railroad Systems has requested <br />that the Meade Street crossing be closed to vehicular traffic during the <br />time necessary for repair and resurfacing of this crossing. <br />Mr. Hazinski reports that investigation by his department shows a need <br />for this repair as the crossing is rough and hazardous , and it is his <br />recommendation that the crossing at Meade Street and the New York <br />Central Railroad crossing be closed. beginning Monday, October 30, 1961 <br />
