TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( REPORTS At the direction of the Board, a study was made of the intersection of .Marietta and Dubail for the need of traffic control (stop signs) at this intersection. As a result of these studies, stop signs have been recommended and have been approved as of this date. With reference to traffic control on Miami Street in the vicinity of Donmoyert a recommendation has been made to the Police Department to enforce speed limit regulations: TRAFFIC ENGINEER RESOLUTION TRAFFIC SURVEY)_ A Resolution granting permission for personnel of the Parking Survey Consultants to affix to motor vehicles questionnaires to be filled out by motor vehicle operators and returned to the Parking Survey Consultants was approved by the Board. Said Resolution was ordered placed on file. FIRE DEPARTMENT - FIRE STATION NO. 13 (CHANGE -ORDERS) The following Change Orders for Fire Station No. 13 were approved by the Board: Harry H. Verkler Contractor, Inc. 645 N. Wilber St. South Bend, Ind. For the furnishing of additional Over -head Door outside switch $55.00 Brehmer Electric Company 502 E. LaSalle Ave. South Bend, Ind. For the furnishing and installation of TV antenna conduit $40.00 Edward J_hite. Inc. 1011 S. Michigan St. South Bend, Ind. For the addition of Domestic Hot Water Heater $210.00 FIRE DEPARTMENT ( PERMISSION TO ATTEND QRILL -SCkML) The Fire Chief requested permission to send two shifts, consisting of Approximately 30 men, to Chicago to attend a Drill School for reference to the Snorkel training on October 2 and October 3. The men will be sent on their day off of duty and the only expense will be for meals for the men. Permission granted, provided there is sufficient money in the budget for the expense of this trip. FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT Having met all the requirements of the Fire Department and the Firemen's Pension Fund, and following the recommendation of the Fire Department and the Pension Board, Mr. Michael J. Wegenka was appointed as a member of the Fire Department. Mr. Wegenka will be assigned to the Electrical Department. This appointment will become effective on October 1, 1961 TRAFFIC ENGINEER REPORT ( SOUTH SHORE RAILROAD -INDUSTRIAL INDUSTRIAL PARK PROTECTION Clem Hazinski, Tiaffic Engineer, presented a letter from the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad with reference to the suggestion protection for the spur line installed at Bendix Drive. The letter states that the railroad does not contemplate using this crossing more than once a day and that during daylight hours. They agree to install flasher type signals together with a bell to be operated manually together with a train service man to protect the crossing while in use. Should this be inadequate they will be happy, at the traffic engineer's recommendation, to install short arm gate: -_____ -" This was approved by the Board and the letter ordered placed on file.
