3. A letter from Mr. Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building <br />Department to Margaret Landis, regarding a house located at 2205 S. <br />Ironwood Drive, was forwarded to the Board. The owner of this dwelling <br />was ordered to havd structure demolished within 30 days from date of <br />letter, which is September 59 1961. Copy of the letter was also forwarded <br />to Councilman Lehman. <br />4. The request for a stricter enforcement program of a "Yield" sigh at <br />Springbrook and Woodmont Drives was referred to the Police Traffic Dept. <br />through the Police Chief. This matter was to receive immediate attention. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS) <br />The following installations were approved by the Board: <br />Stop Signs installed on St. Vincent St., both sides, at Burns Street. <br />Stop Signs installed on Hoke Street, both sides, at Donald St. <br />Stop Signs installed on Vine Street, both sides, at 32nd St. <br />2 Hr. sign limit signs removed from 734 E. Broadway <br />No Angle Parking signs (6) installed on south side of 1900 block of E.Northside <br />Blvd. <br />112 Hour Parking 6 A.M. to 6 P.M." signs installed in front of 3300 W. <br />Sample Street on south side of Street. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( RE: SOUTH SHORE RAILROAD SPUR INDUSTRIAL PARK AREA <br />The Traffic Engineer presented a letter to the Board which was sent to the <br />General Superintendent of the Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Railroad <br />regarding the railroad spur at the Industrial Park area. Mr. Hazinski <br />reported that he had not as yet received a reply to the letter. He was <br />directed to continue his investigation of this matter. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( REPORT ON HOUSE MOVE) <br />Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer presented a report to the Board regarding <br />a house move from 2605 S. Main St. to Dice Street in Gilmer Park. Mr. <br />Hazinski had been requested by the Board to meet with Mr. Mitschelen, house mover. <br />Mr. Hazinski reported that all arrangements had been made and permission <br />to move house granted for Sept. 139 1961. The Board had previously <br />granted permission, provided all conditions were met for such a move. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT (PETITIONS FOR STREET LIGHTS) The following petitions for street lights were referred to the Electrical <br />Department for investigation and recommendations a <br />1. Street lights (2) at William and Calvert to Dubail. <br />2. Street.. -tight Cleveland from Lincolnway West to LaPorte Avenue. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ( RE: OFFICER D. NIEDBALSKI) ' <br />The Board wishes the record to show that this Board wishes to commend Officer <br />David Niedbalski of the Police Department for his splendid work in connection <br />with an accident which occurred on September 10, 1961 when a young boy was <br />seriously cut by a plate glass window. Officer°Niedbalski's quick action in <br />stopping bleeding undoubtedly saved the boy's life. The Board also commented <br />the Chief of Police upon the splendid work of the Department in this instance <br />and the secretary was directed to direct a letter to Officer Niedbalski <br />conveying its congratulations. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( HEARINGS - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION) <br />The following hearings were held and the following actions taken by the <br />Board: <br />A progress report on property located at 116 S. Walnut was given by Mrs. <br />Bunyon who stated that she is complying with order to repair dwelling, but <br />requested additional time to complete repairs. Case continued for 60 days <br />or until November 20, 1961. <br />
