FIRE DEPARTMENT (APPOINTMENT) <br />It was the decision of.the Board, following the recommendation of the <br />Firemen's Pension Fund President, that the application of Daniel Plencner <br />as a member of the Fire Department be accepted by the Pension Fund and that <br />said Daniel Plencner, having met all requirements necessary to serve as a <br />member of the South Bend Fire Department, be appointed to said Department, <br />effective July 18, 1961. <br />. FIRE DEPARTMENT (APPLICATION) 4,_ <br />The following application was accepted for the Fire Department and ordered <br />placed on file: Bobby Joe Graham. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT(APPLICATION) <br />The following -application for the Police Department was accepted and ordered <br />placed on file: Frederick Edward Goller, Jr. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />A Street Light'Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE (VACATION) <br />Lt. Carroll Parfitt, Executive Director of the Department of Civil Defense <br />submitted a report to the Board advising that he will be on vacation from <br />July 179 1961 to August 69 19619 inclusive. During this period, Capt. O.E. <br />Harman and Sgt. Woodrow McDaniel will be on an emergency standby basis. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( SUB -STANDARD DIVISION) HEARINGS <br />Comes now Mr. John Grabarz with the following hearings on sub -standard <br />dwellings: <br />Mr. Anderson of the firm of Anderson & Wattles, appeared before the Board <br />in reference to a home at 714 E. LaSalle Avenue. The owner is given 45 days <br />to.Vacate the premises. <br />With reference to property located,at 1008-1010 W. Washington Avenue, the <br />house will be condemned and the Building Department is authorized to <br />take bids for said demolition. <br />With reference to property located at 2509 Longley Avenue, the owner, Mr. <br />Wallace Mitchell, failing to appear at the Board Meeting, the Building <br />Department is directed to do all things necessary for condemnation pro- <br />cedures and to report back to the Board at the next regular meeting. <br />With reference to property located at 418 Cottage Grove Avenue, owner John <br />M. Frank, property being cared for by Albert Frank, this case was referred <br />back to Mr. Grabarz for further Investigation. <br />The case of property located at 1219 Grace Streeti. owned by Joseph Miliakski, <br />was brought to the.attention of the Board. Condemnation is ordered and <br />the Building Department authorized to advertise for bids for said demolition. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10.45 A.M. <br />Chairman <br />Attest: AnthodV.
