3 <br />July 17, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of,Public Safety was held on Monday, July 17, <br />1961 at lO;OO A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to <br />the various suppliers,• <br />RE; FIRE STATION NO. 13 SIGNING OF CONTRACrS <br />Contracts from Harry Verkler Construction Co., Brehmer Electric,Co., Edward J. <br />White, awarded on July 3, 1961 were signed this date by the Board. <br />REs FIRE STATION NO. 2 (HARRY H. VERKLER CmTRACrm INC. DOCUMENTS) <br />The following documents from Harry H. Verkler Contractor, Inc. were accepted <br />by the Board and ordered placed on file; <br />J. Twenty year roof Guarantee Bond <br />2. Completed Waiver of Lien <br />3. Contractor's one year guarantee against faulty materials <br />and Workmanship. <br />4. South Bend Building Department Certificate of Occupancy. <br />5. Ddplicate copy of Board of Pqblic Works & Safety Purchase <br />Order #BW26542 <br />6. Completed €e6 ty of South Bend Claim Form, in triplicate. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( REPORT -REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN LIBERTY & DUNHAM STREETS) <br />Comes now Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer,and submits a report with reference <br />to a request from Mrs. Bernard Kielton for a four-way stop at Liberty and <br />Dunham Streets. <br />Mr. Hazinski reports that studies made at this location indicate that insufficient <br />warrants exist for such an installation. However, because of vehicular <br />movement as pertine to the numerous children there, signs warning of <br />children will be installed along with speed limit signs. <br />Also, information with reference to speeders and "hot rods" has been turned <br />over to the Police Traffic Division for enforcement. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (TRAFFIC SIGNS) <br />The following installations of traffic signs were approved by the Board: <br />1. Stop gigns installed on Humboldt, both sides at Cleveland Ave. <br />2. Yield Right -of -Way sign on Cleveland Avenue, southeast corner <br />at Diamond Avenue <br />3. StQp Sign installed on Viking Drive, southwest corner, at <br />Riverside Drive. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (PETITION FOR STOP STREET) <br />A petition to make Huey Street a Stop Street at the intersection of Bulla <br />and Huey Streets was referred to the i!raffic Engineer for investigation and <br />report. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT <br />A petition for a street light in Mayflower Manor and 1220 W. Thomas Street was <br />referred to Nick Horvath, Superviser of the Electrical Department for investiga- <br />tion and recommendation. <br />4a, <br />ELEgftICAL INSPECTION DEPARTMENT (RE: FIRE STATION NO. 13) <br />A letter was directed to Brehmer Electric Company with reference to electrical <br />applisnees added to Fire Station No. 13 kitchen facilities that would require <br />changes in the electrical wiring installation in order to comply with the <br />City Code. This information was received by the Electrical Inspection <br />.Department. <br />The letter requested Brehmer Electric Company to comply with the requests of <br />the Electrical Inspection Department and if such compliance results in a <br />deduction or addition to -the contract, the Board will comply. <br />
