E <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT (APPLICATIONS) <br />The following applications for the Fire Department were accepted and ordered <br />placed on file: Michael Richard Ewald, Stanley Joseph Kosek, Jr. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 10:45 A.M. <br />Attest: Anthony J. Sabo, Clerk <br />April 24, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, April 24, <br />1961, at 10:00 A.M. All'members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT (PENSION FUND) <br />In accordance with the recommendation of the Firemen's Pension Fund and the <br />findings of Drs. R. Y1. Spenner, medical examiner and Dr. Egan, the Board <br />approves the pensioning of Fireman John Wishing. .Said retirement shall <br />become effective May 12 1961. <br />FIREMEN'S ANNUAL BALL <br />A letter from the South Bend Firemen's Association by Benedict -Kowalski, Dance <br />Chairman, to the Board requested permission to hold their annual ball in the <br />Drill Hall at Notre Dame on Tuesday, June 13, 1961. Permission granted. <br />APPLICATION (FIRE DEPARTMENT) <br />An application for the Fire Department from John P. Spergl was accepted and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (REQUEST: COUNCILMAN LEHMAN) <br />A letter from Councilman Lehman regarding traffic signs and traffic control <br />in the 5th district was presented to the Board, examined and referred to the <br />Traffic Engineer for examination and report. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (ATTEND MEETING) <br />Comes now Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, and requests permission- to attend <br />a meeting on Traffic $ngineering in Indianapolis on April 27, 1961 in the <br />afternoon. Permission granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT (ADVERTISE FOR SEDAN) <br />Comes now Chief of Police Dutrieux and requested permission to advertise for <br />the purchase of a new Sedan for the Department. The Board, having been advised <br />that there is sufficient money in the budget for such a purchase, granted <br />permission. The Clerk of the Board was directed to place advertisements in <br />The South Bend Tribune and The Record on April 28 and May 5, 1961. Sealed <br />bids will be opened at 10:00 A.M. DST on Monday, May 8, 1961. <br />
