April 17, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, April <br />17, 1961 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last <br />regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were ordered paid to the <br />various suppliers. <br />RE: REQUEST OF REACTIVATION OF SIGN (2023 S. MICHIGAN ST.) <br />Comes now Mr. David Smith with reference to a large sign located at 2023 S. <br />Michigan Street in front of building owned by Michael Karan. Mr. Smith <br />advised the Boaxid that an order had been issued by Mr. Morgan Peck of the <br />City Electrical Inspection Department requesting that the sign be removed <br />since this .&olved city owned property. <br />Mr. Smith wishes to,reactiva,,e this neon sign and requested that order for <br />A' <br />removal be set aside. <br />It was the decision of the Board to continue this hearing for one month <br />and the Clerk of the Board was directed to investigate this matter and <br />report back to the Board. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( HOUSE MOVE) <br />Comes now Verner Lane, Building Commissioner, and requests permission to <br />issue permit to have house moved from 1504 Lincolnway East to 2236 Pleasant <br />Street. The owner of the house is one Jacob Mitschelen, the mover is <br />one Lewis IMitschelen. <br />The Board, having been advised that residents affected by such move have <br />been notified and there being no remonstrators, it is the decision of the <br />Board that such moving permit be allowed provided that all conditions <br />set up by the Building Department be followed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT (SUB -STANDARD DIVISION) <br />A hearing for the vacation and demolition of property at 322 W. Garst Street <br />was continued until Monday, April 24, 1961. Mr. Grabarz of the Sub -Standard <br />Division of the Building Department was directed to so notify the owners <br />of the property and also Mr. Nick Cholis, attorney. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT (ACCIDENT_ REPORTS) <br />An Accident Report from Police Officer William Adelsperger was referred to the <br />Board by Chief of Police Dutrieux. <br />Aftet examination, it was the decision of the Board to have this investigated <br />and collect damages. The Clerk of the Board was directed to follow through <br />on such collection and, if unable to reach an agreement, to refer to Mr. <br />Irving J. Smith, City Attorney. <br />An Accident Report referred to the Indiana State Police was referred to the <br />Board. The ac6ident involved Off: Molnar_.�nd Nagy And vehicle driven by Harold <br />Stuard Smiley. Accident resulted in injuried to all involved. <br />After examination, it was the decision of the Board to have this investigated <br />and collect damages. The Clerk of the Board was directed to follow through <br />on such collection and, if unable to reach an agreement, to refer to Mr. <br />Irving J. Smith, City Attorney. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER (TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />The Board, following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, approved the <br />installation of the following traffic signs: <br />Yield Right of Way Sign on Lancaster Drive, northwest corner at Chippewa <br />Stop Signs on Grant Street, both sides, at Calvert Street. <br />STREET LIGHT OLTAGE REPORT <br />A Report on Street Light Outage was accepted by the Board and ordered placed on <br />file. <br />
