TRAFFIC ENGINEER (TRAFFIC SIGNS) Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following installations of stop signs were approved: Stogy Sign installed on Eunice Drive, southeast corner, at McKinley Highway (US 20) Stop Sign installed on Tuxedo Drive, southeast corner, at McKinley Highway (US 20) Stop Signs installed on Rush Street, both sides, at Haney Street. TRAFFIC ENGINEER.: (MCKINLEY HIGHWAY US 20) Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, presented a progress report on the hazardous condition which exists on McKinley Highway (US 20) between Ironwood Drive and the east City Limits which is Logan Street. After investigation, Mr. Hazinski recommended that a Resolution be drawn up and forwarded to the Ifidiana State Highway Department Engineer, Mr. Ralph Chapin, LaPorte, Indiana prohibiting parking on the above -mentioned highway. lkll The following Resolution was unanimously approved by the Board and copy r-i of d6dument ordered forwarded to the Indiana State Highway Department, C/o Mr. Ralph Chapin, Assistant Engineer, Traffic, LaPorte, Ind., with a request that this Resolution be examined and confirmed. RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUFH BEND INDIANA WHEREAS, an investigation has been made as to traffic conditions on McKinley Highway, known as U.S. 209 between Ironwood Drive and the east City Limits which is Logan Street, and WHEREAS, it has been ascertained that traffic is of such a nature that parking on the highway or along the shoulder of said highway creates a hazard and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board that traffic conditions could be controlled if parking is prohibited, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works & Safety prohibit parking on said above -mentioned highway or shoulder and the Board goes on record requesting the Indiana State Highway Department to confirm this Resolution and take all action prohibiting said parking. Adopted this 20th day of February, 1961 RAY S. ANDRYSIAK EDWIN L. DAVIES IRVING J. SMITH STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. REQUEST: FIRE DEPARTMENT (LESTER DOTY RE: RACEWAY AREA) Comes now Captain Downs of the Fire Department and reports that the raceway is being used to dump rubbish and also to burn trash and requests the Board to take action on this. It is established that Lester Doty, of 331 E. LaSalle is owner of property and that he is responsible for the use of the raceway for the above -mentioned purposes. The Board ruled that a letter be addressed to Mr. Doty, directing him to cease and desist all such fires and dumping of undesirable rubbish and further, that no refuse or garbage of any kidd be dumped on said property
