The above -described bids are awarded to Freeman -Spicer Co., Inc. and Harley- <br />Davidson Sales as of this date. <br />BIa LDING DEPARTMENT (SUB -STANDARD DIVISION_) <br />Rev. Bowles appears before the Board in reference to a condemnation order here- <br />to -fore entered for the demolishment of property at 203-215 S. Kentucky <br />Street, to request a continuation of said demolishment order. <br />After hearing Rev. Bowles the Board agrees to continue said case to April <br />4, 1961 at which time the building must be completely removed. This <br />continuance is subject to the withdrawal of a law suit pending in Superior Ct.#1 <br />St.Jot.County Court within one week from this date. If this suit is not <br />dismissed by February 20, 1961 any order entered into for a continuance <br />will become null and void. The Clerk of the Board is directed to ascertain <br />that lawsuit is dismissed as ordered. If suit is not dismissed Building <br />Department will proceed with orders pending result of court action, on <br />February 24, 1961. , <br />Comes now Rev. Liggens with reference to the property located at 225 S. <br />Kentucky Street and requests a continuance of said case. Rev. Liggens <br />was reminded by the Board that order to vacate premises referred to all <br />persons residing at the above address. Request for continuance was refused <br />by the Board and Rev. Liggens ordered to vacate premises by February 15, <br />1961 as per the original order. <br />A progress report concerning 217-2172 S. Walnut revealed that the demolish- <br />ment order has not been carried out, owner has not appeared as directed. <br />The Sub -standard Division of the Building Department was ordered to proceed <br />to get bids for demolishment and submit to the Board for examination. <br />Comes now Verner Lane, Building Commissioner with signed statement from <br />Clarence Robbins who declares that he is the sole survivitig-heir.bf property <br />commonly known as 1809 N. Meade Street and grants to the Building Depart- <br />ment permission to demolish the building in any manner it sees fit. <br />A signed statement from Helen Jackson Graham and a statement from the Board <br />of Commissioners for St. Joseph County were also submitted to the Board <br />with reference to property located at 1817 N. Meade Street. Said statements <br />declare that the Building Department may demolish said building in any <br />manner it sees fit. <br />Since it is the desire of the Fire Department to use the above -described <br />properties for fire practice, the Building Department is directed to coordinate <br />all matters with the Fire Department and to observe caution so as to <br />protect life and property. Such permission is subject to condition that <br />Helen Jackson Graham does not have a husband. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUEST (ATTEND MEETING) <br />Comes now Verner. Lane, Building Commissioner, and requests permission to attend <br />a meeting on February 21, 1961 in Bloomington, Indiana. Mr. Lane has been <br />invited to speak at the meeting of the Council of the City of Bloomington. <br />He will defray the costs of such a trip. Permission granted. <br />_WEIGHT'S & MEASURES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, submitted a report of the Weights & Measures <br />Department for the month of January, 1961. Report was accepted and ordered <br />placed on file. <br />Mr. Cichowicz also submitted a letter from a manager of a supermarket commending <br />the Department for effecting a substantial saving to the store by reason of <br />the fact that, upon checking the scales, the scales were found faulty, thus <br />causing the store's' 16ss: of revenue. <br />STREET LIGHT OUFAGE REPORT <br />Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
