February 14, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday, February <br />14, 1961 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting.were re4d and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the <br />various suppliers. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT PENSION FUND DISABILITY PENSION AND FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT') <br />Comes now Alex Andrzejewski, Fire Chief and Firemen's Pension President and submits <br />a letter to the Board with reference to the following business: <br />1. The. Pension Fund of the Fire Department submits to the Board the fact <br />that Joseph P. Fokey of the Fire Department is disabled and is unable to continue <br />performance of his duties on the Fire Department. Said Joseph P. Fokey's <br />request for such disability pension has been found acceptable by the Pension <br />Fund. The Board therefore approves the action of the Pension Fund and said <br />termination shall become effective on March 1, 1961. <br />2. The application to the South::-Bend`,Electrical Department (Alarm Station) <br />of Roy Richard Lowman, Jr., having been examined by the Pension Fund has <br />been found acceptable by the Board of Trustees. <br />The Board of Safety, having examined said application of Roy Richard Lowman, Jr. <br />finds that he is physically and mentally capable to perform the duties of the <br />Electrical Department (Alarm Station1,and further, that he has been examined <br />by Dr. R. W. Spenner, medical examiner for the Pension Fund and found physically <br />and mentally,fit; therefore, said applicant is appointed to the South Bend <br />Electrical Department, effective February 16, 1961. <br />AGREEMENT - CALLIX MILLER (RE: FIRE STATION NO. 13 <br />An agreement between Callix Miller, Architect, and the Board of Public Works <br />& Safety for the City of South Bend, covering architectural services in <br />connection with such remodeling, such service fee being Eight (8) Percent, <br />was approved by the Board and signed this date. <br />Mr. Miller is directed by the Board to draw up such Plans and Specifications <br />for said remodeling as are required. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION <br />An application for the Firs Department for Robert Donald Relos was accepted <br />and ordered placed onfile. <br />F_IREMEN'S PENSION FUND REPORT <br />The Financial Statement for the year ending December 31, 1960 for the Firemen's <br />Pension Fund was accepted by the Board and ordered pla ced on file. <br />AWARDING OF BIDS (POLICE DEPARTMENT) <br />With reference to the bids for 5 Sedans for the Police Department, after <br />examination of said bids, it appears that the lowest and best bid is from <br />Freeman -Spicer Co., Inc. and fof.t he -Motor cycle, the best and lowest bid is <br />from Harley-Davidson Sales. The bids are as follows: <br />Freeman -Spicer Co., Inc. <br />5 20 S.
