MP January 309 1961 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, January 30, 1961 at 10:00 A.M. All memvers were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. OPENING OF BIDS - BUILDING DEPARTMENT The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Sedan for the Building Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication from The South Bend Tribune and The Record with affidavit for The Tribune signed by Robert DeLong and The Record by William Slavick were found sufficient. The following bids were received: Newman & Altman, Inc. 220 E. F_IRE DEPARTMENT ADVERTISE FOR BIDS (SNORKEL) Comes now Fire Chief Alex Andrzejewski and requests permission to advertise for the purchase of a Fire Department 85 foot Snorkel. The reason for such early advertising -is because it takes 200 working days before delivery. The Board, being assured by the Fire Chief that there is sufficient money in the budget for such purchase, granted permission for such a purchase. AdveEtisements will appear on February 3 and February 20, 1961 and bids will be opened at 10:00 A.M. on February 20, 1961. FIRE DEPARTMENT REQUEST (PURDUE U. COURSE - MECHANICS) Comes now Fire Chief Alex Andrzejewski and requests permission to send Captain Carl Martz to Purdue University, Fire Administeator's Course in Mechanics on February 8, 1961. Permission granted. FIRE DEPARTMENT (ACCIDENT REPORT) A report of a minor accident involving a fire truck was reported to the Board, examined and ordered placed on file. RE: FIRE STATION NO. 13 REMODELING (CALLIX MILLER CONTRACT) Callix Miller, Architect, submitted to the Board Form A.I.A. Contract for performance of services for Fire Station No. 13, 1616 Portage Avenue. The Board will examine said contract and report at the next meeting.
