NM <br />1 <br />Said applicant has been accepted by the Firemen's Pension Fund, and has <br />also met all physical and other requirements of the Medical Examiner. <br />Therefore, the Board acts favorably upon the recommendation of the Fire <br />Chiaf and said Kay L. James is unanimously accepted and appointed to the <br />South Bend Fire Department, assigned to the Electrical Department, effective <br />January 1, 1961. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 3:30.$.M. <br />Chairman <br />January 3, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday, January <br />3, 1961 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARD DIVISION <br />With reference to the property located at 1059 Burns Street, owned by Reverend <br />R. D. Wilson, comes now Rev. Wilson, represented by his attorney, Chester Alley, <br />and informs the Board that certain changes in carpenters and contractors have <br />been made and, under this arrangement, property can be brought up to standard <br />as required by the Building Department. Mr. Allen requests Board to grant a <br />continuance for`his client until May, 1961 at which time structure will be <br />completed in accordance with the Building Department requirements. <br />Request granted and case continued until May 1, 1961 at which time hearing will <br />be held on the above. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - RE -APPOINTMENT <br />Comes now Robert W. Seals who was previously a -member of the South Bend Police <br />Department and now requests re -appointment to the Police Department. The <br />Board, finding that the Police Pension Board has approved said reappointment <br />now appoints Mr. Seals as a member of the Police Department, effective January <br />4, 1961. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />An application for the Police Department from Richard I. Chlebek was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for the Fire Department were accepted and ordered <br />placed on file: John A. Kluszczynski, Raymond F. Szabo, John Abell, Francis J. <br />Beck. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical <br />Department, the Board approved the installation of a 2500 lumen alley light <br />in the rear of 115 W. Walnut St. <br />INSURANCE REGULATIONS: ENCROACHMENT ON CITY PROPERTY <br />Effective this date, the following amounts of insurance will be required for <br />encroachments on city property. Said insurance will indemnify the City of South <br />Bend: $100,000.00 each individual accident, $300,000 maximum accident, $25,000 <br />property damage. These are the minimum requirements. Additional coverage may be <br />requested, at the discretion of the Board. <br />
